You can't seriously be implying that Rollins and Howard are playing well because of Halladay.
Well he is hitting around .300 this year lol.

Honestly I think the team in general decided to change their approach at the plate after last season. The only person I can think of in the past 5 years that has had any real plate discipline was Pat Burrell, and suddenly this year everyone has it.

Howard closed his stance a bit and moved closer to the plate, which has allowed him to hit breaking balls better and hit to the opposite field. Rollins just needed to stop swinging at every pitch he saw. I think he averaged barely more than 3 pitches per at bat last year, which is pathetic for a leadoff hitter.

We'll see how this all holds up when we start facing better staffs. The only good pitcher we've faced so far is Oswalt and we only got 2 runs off him. Frankly I'm really worried about our bullpen, especially if Lidge and Romero aren't effective after coming back.

Phillies fans need to thank Barry Bonds for Howard's improved approach this year. Ryan asked Barry to come and help him with his swing and Bonds was more than willing to impart his wisdom. I'm still hoping that the Giants will hire Barry in the next few years as a hitting coach. I would doubt that there's anyone alive who knows as much about hitting as that man does.

I don't think anything changed with Utley's work ethic, but there's definitely something about the Phillies offense that seems to emanate throughout the lineup. Halladay's presence has definitely had an effect on the team as a whole, but I think Polanco's has too.

And yeah, Barry Bonds is a scumbag, but he can fucking hit a baseball.

The most important thing Ive noticed this early, is that Brett Gardner is hitting .308, getting on base and overall batting much better this year, thus far.

In other news the Nats are about to go over .500 at the latest point in the season since they moved to Washington. Who'd have thought that would happen considering 6 of their first 11 games were against the Phils? If the Mets keep being the Mets they may actually finish out of the basement for once.

Yea, I think he leads the team in P/PA. He's so much better than Melky, even if he doesn't hit, he's still an elite defender in LF/CF and a 50 SB threat.

Atl is seeing a lot more pitches this year also. I think they're 4th in the league in p/pa. Obviously they don't have anyone on par with Utley and Howard to take advantage, yet anyways. Heyward is raking so i wouldn't be surprised if he gets moved up sooner rather than later. Someones gotta drive in Prado, since he gets on twice a game.

No not directly at all, but I think some of his work ethic is rubbing off on the rest of the team, however marginally it may be.

Our bullpen does need to work out its kinks, but I think that a lot of that will be remedied by our guys coming off of the DL. Herndon scared the hell out of me last night.

The Twins won again and upped their record to 9-3. I'm loving this lineup. It's fun to see a lineup that has someone like Jason Kubel batting 7th and JJ Hardy batting 8th.

Jon Rauch is 6 for 6 in save opportunities also. I'm still not sold on him, but it's great to see him off to such a nice start.

Halladay can have the Cy Young, Lincecum wants the silver slugger. He's 2-2 today with 3 RBI's.

Polanco is having a huge impact on the entire lineup. How many teams have 8 hitters(7 if you don't count Raul who's struggling) who are legitamate threats?

As far as the bullpen, Durbin, Conteras, and Figueroa have been nothing but fantastic. I still have faith in Herndon, it's not like he was giving up rocket after rocket last night.

Mets have only 1 hit, and it was a flukey, broken bat bloop single.

Yeah, I figured you were. I saw Tek's homer on my free viewing of the sports pay-per-view. Brighthouse is giving the first couple weeks free I suppose for baseball season just starting and flipped to it just on time to see him hit it. I have Beckett going tonight in fantasy baseball. Red-Sox need more runs please.

Anyway, my note on Hermeida was I'd rather him DH if anything. Ortiz has been a dumpster fire, and I doubt Veritek hits more than 10-13 homers. At least Hermeida gives some power there.
Didn't call Jimenez throwing a no-hitter after 5+ walks, but eh. Close enough. They always do this; score a ton one night and come out the next flat and terrible.

The announcers are running out of things to talk about, lol

Also, I have a feeling this is the Braves offense we'll see all year. Major ups and downs.
