A-Rod doesn't really have that authoritarian aura that, say, Derek Jeter does. I could see talking shit to A-Rod.

Yeah, but... all he did was walk over the mound. All the things you can pick on about A-rod, and you choose something he probably didn't even realize he was doing? Really.

A-Rod seems kind of like a space case anyway. Does he ever know what he's doing? Ha. I get your point, I'm just breaking balls.

Holy crap does Braden throw a hissy fit in the dugout over something like that.

A-Rod's a weird dude. Dunno why Braden would talk shit though.

Run support aside, he pitched a pretty good game.

And of coarse they always mess with the rotation just to fucking use him against us.

Were so lucky to score 5 on him this season

What did the Fish score in the other 5 innings? If only the game worked that way, lol. Just weird to see two starts in a row where the pitcher gives up 5 runs in a single inning then dominates the rest of the way. Luckily he didn't have that bad inning yesterday/

The Braves organist is my favorite unsung hero of baseball after playing that, The Office theme for Ryan Howard, and Doctor Feelgood when Halladay was at bat. There's probably more too that I missed.

Atl is obsessed with having a right handed power bat hitting 4th and so far Glaus has cost them games. I'd move Heyward to 3rd and bat Chipper 4th and sit Glaus' ass down and start Hinske. Yunel is a .300 hitter batting around .200, he needs to stop trying to hit homers and go back to driving in runners in scoring position. And Heyward is batting a ridiculous .727 with risp.

Yeah.. I don't know any Braves fans that like Glaus. I said I would've been happy with abou t.250, 25 homers, and 90RBI, but I doubt we even get that. Dude's been terrible.

Cool story if we have any aspiring stat geeks here.

I work for a pretty prestigious think tank, and we employ a lot of statisticians (I work on the business side, I'm neither prestigious nor good with statistics). But we hire Ivy League types and it's a competitive gig. A few years ago we hired this guy out of the University of Chicago, and I became friends with him because he's such a baseball nerd. Did his undergrad and graduate thesis on baseball stats, and writes freelance stat articles.

He stopped by today to let me know he's leaving our firm in two weeks to join the Cleveland Indians as a baseball analyst. Taking less money and giving up his career thus far, but living the dream. In three weeks, he'll report to work every day at the Jake, helping them make personnel decisions. I couldn't be more jealous, lol.

And this is part of the reason why Mathematicians have the most satisfying jobs, or whatever that thread was about a few months back.

Baseball teams have been hiring statisticians ever since the Moneyball era started years ago. Much to the chagrin of 80 year old scouts everywhere who think they can tell everything about a player from how he swings the bat.

You young whippersnappers don't know anything about real ballplayers! Why in my day, they could drink bear, eat hot dogs, take a shit, and still hit a fastball clear outta the ballpark!

How Babe Ruth did all that while burning the candle at both ends is quite impressive.

I don't dislike Glaus... just his production thus far. We just don't have the luxury of feeding him at-bats so he can get his timing back, at least not in the upper half of the lineup. I think those numbers are still reachable but I'm not holding my breath.
