Yea but lolskadi :/
Gratz Sin.
Darkness absolutely owns the first couple floors most of it is x2 mirror. 1000 Cata + 2000 darkness is not uncommon in my group. We don't hold TP but use WSs that could SC. With that said the first couple floors are so easy, it probably doesn't matter. So go for the Epeen SC damage![]()
Convo was about whether Asuran + Penta results in more damage than Asuran + Gekko and why a SAM should be using Tomoe instead. Taint mentioned using Cata with Asuran and it resulting in big damage. Zhi decided to be a douche and mention that MNK's dont get Cata. Who cares, its the same point, they skillchain the same thing. Emphasis was on skillchain and gekko or no skillchain and penta.
Except for the fact that the argument was yes, based on MNK and SAM SC'ing, and Mr. Argumentative threw out a skillchain x2 damage statement, which does not occur in normal circumstances without a relic weapon skill, able to mimic a level 3 skillchain on it's own, for 1.5 or 2x damage.
Salvage is hard![]()
it does 2x in arra because qutrub take double damage from everything
personally prefer mnk mnk or sam sam, but i never got around to getting a soboro and it's very tough to math tomoe vs soboro+darknesses :s
Did you just say
Its hard
TO MATH?!?
I'll accept that for Arra only, but for all others, obviously null.
I think the most obvious piece of the puzzle would be that someone will have to be holding TP, for several rounds possibly. Only one DD will be getting fully geared to start, differences in haste/sTP and therefore one will TP up faster than the other. Overtime these extra attack rounds will have obviously limited one of the DD's total weapon skills, not to mention forcing the use of an obviously weaker weapon.
Looks bleh to me all around, screw skillchains, rock a polearm
If I wasn't using Amano I would probably go with polearm as well on first few, even though you will always have TP when the MNK does assuming you are using Soboro. But most the time you want to SC you are trying too hard and focus on others TP and save yours, so you would do less damage overall etc.
I'll be the first to admit that I'm not too melee savvy. For as long as I've done Salvage, I've been RDM or BRD dozens if not hundreds of times and melee much much less. We didn't even use SAMs in my original group on Titan. We only had 2 MNK and a THF as the melee.
So when I joined a Salvage group on Seraph and was told to come SAM, I distinctly remember busting out Tomoe after getting weapon and was about to Penta some bitches but was told to switch to GKT to make darkness. Then when I joined my current group on Unicorn, I noticed the SAMs did the same thing. So I prolly just assumed this was some common convention.
in my experience, a good sam should enter salvage with a tomoe, a hagun, and a soboro. soboro wrecks the first floors, tomoe (or applicable plm) for gears and anything that flies, and then, personally i prefer hagun on bosses. it's not even about tp spam, it's about the ability to bounce hate between tanks. if you're using a soboro on the boss, you're either 1) holding tp way past 100 or 2) solo tanking.
(also, asuran fists > gekko will one-shot the big wamouras... that and quturbs are about the only thing worth holding tp for).
now can we get back to pictures of shit that doesn't drop for us?
