Ok, I'll grant that Paralyze is an unknown, but 0-2 mnd on paralyze is even smaller. Again, I fully understand optimizing. If you are a main whm/smn/brd, and want every little bit you can, go for it. But someone not having it and not wanting to do salvage for a Marduk body is not just acceptable, I'd call it intelligent in many cases.

Nobody is disagreeing with this. My point was that the guy calling it worthless had no real grounds for doing so. Is it really better than Ares'? Maybe, maybe not, quantifying everything is very difficult.. but I can confidently say that Ares' is a less than 1% increase in total damage over alternatives for any non-relic DD when used properly.

Actually paralyze was tested on bg before.I remember the thread existing and the whm testing on crabs for hours. the Dmnd needed to cap potency was surprisingly low as remarked by everyone (as far as my memory says)
Paralyze 2 on the other hand hasn't been thoroughly tested but doesnt matter for marduk.

My theory has been, why waste 6x the MP to cast para2 for the same random proc rate?

Cap slow 2, put a merit in dia3 for zergs, put 4 merits in phalanx 2, do salvage, suck less?

so in 100 runs you killed turtle only 5 times? it doesn't cockblock any other NM and ssr is obviously hardest zone to cap on so i'd assume you do it a bit.. must be gimp luck rule at work here

Yeah, we've done SSR maybe 25 times and only 4-5 times turtle as we're not quite good enough to do a full path (usu head > morri legs > ares legs > turtle) + boss (we're only 5 minutes off now) and we've needed a lot from SSR boss. So I didn't want to be selfish. So I've delayed turtle for a long time.

The benefit to Ares is rarely for pure-DD, I agree. I think you underrated mp used by a drg/mage (dia2 is very good), and I really think without a Ghorn, a pld can always use the mp too, and having a head slot is nice, there.

Why not? Crimson Mask+Dalmatica is fine until you get a Chapeau. (Unless you want something besides regen, either way, don't see the harm.)

Well, I've been trying to get a RDM hat for 3ish years and I've done dynamis on a consistent basis, so some people fit into that category without actually trying. Ares' may not be worth the pricetag, I have it. I also have Marduk body, so that should sum up why I have Ares'.

Fuck Skirmish Pephredo. My group did that and we went 0/165+ on that NM. We had 3 people that needed 35 Usu Feet from him. Then one faithful day..

4 pops within the first 50 spawns and 4 Usu Feet. My highest MNK/SAM/NIN was 40, and I got a pair, with no intentions of ever taking MNK/SAM/NIN to 75. <_<

Finished my Usukane Somen with a ZR win tonight, no 35s.

I always stop after 5 NMs in BR, someone cataloging more than 1 run or did I miss some major update?

Anytime we got an nm in BR we farmed most/all of the rampart. Didn't need any drops from the boss, so when we worked BR in, all we did was hit the ramps. I remember one run we must have gotten 9 or 10 gate widows with no drop.

Are you saying your NM's always stop coming after 5? There was no update if I translated that correctly, I've seen many 6-8 pops. But usually it seems to be Gate Widow/ZZ.

What? That seems worth far more to me than what Marduk gives. :/ Though I agree, it is still kinda meh, still seems leaps and bounds better than the benefit of Marduk.

I remember that thread, but it was not a real test. Sample sizes mainly were in the hundreds range which is too low to deduce anything.
