When I mic the drums, it's an ungodly mess. Eventually I'm going to build my own home studio with all the freaking wiring in the walls.

Hmm. What about something mechanically like a dropped ceiling, but with the floor instead? Install in any room, use something like pressboard so you don't feel bad about drilling holes in it as needed.

Oh, wait, acoustics, huh?

I guess I'll just keep it in mind for a computer room or something.

You could do it with a floor and work the acoustics right. Prince has his house wired so that he can press a button in any room and instantly record, so it could be done.
