tbh I thought it was pretty useless. You had to sign in to your POL account before you could sign up anyway, so why ask them to enter your POL idea when they could simply pull that info from your login account anyway?

It makes it much easier when going through the applications since they really won't go by hand with the no doubt millions that signed up and it simplifies it when they run their queries or w/e.

gonna go out on a hunch and say everybody who has a currently active FFXI account and meet the system requirements are going to be set at a higher priority than anybody else. Reasoning is because of current FFXI players needing to input their POL ID at beta sign up.

They will probably go through all of these people before they move to the people who played for 5+ years and quit.

Probably true even though it makes no sense, as people who played FFXI for 5 years and quit should be their target audience, and people who never quit shouldn't be tempted to with another game.

They wouldn't have to go by hand, could just add a simple script which checks the database to see if said player is playing FFXI.

Although maybe this is just me talking <.<; I had already quit FFXI when I signed up, and as such I hope I'm not excluded from the first beta phase since I chose "Have played FFXI buy have since quit", especially since I activated my FFXI account again a few days ago...

I'm just hoping they choose existing players and people who chose the "Have played FFXI" option.

This has me confused on what they are trying to say actually. The emails people are gonna be receiving are for beta tests, but this news seems to highlight on the closed alpha test.

Is the alpha test for only the 1k~ who went to Vanafest then, since they all got alpha invites?

Probably just poor grammar on SE's part, unless they meant alpha when they said beta. Really don't know

it sounds more like there will be a closed alpha for X weeks and then beta testing starts imo. And it doesn't seem like they've announced the alpha testers yet, and they will get an email tomorrow notifying them that they got selected.

I tried signing up for the beta with my old POL ID (which still exists btw, like the FJWN9382 id) and it wasn't taken and allowed me to make a new password, so idk how its possible for them to link currently or past players besides what they answered on the survey.

the JP Vanafest site also says that invites go out march 1st. Right now it is March 1st in Japan. Does that mean they might be going out later today?

I'm saying the I tried to log into the beta signup with my POL Id (the same one I use to log into POL to play ffxi) and it said it didn't exist (although it does I can still log into ffxi) so I created a new one on their website. I dont see how it links to ffxi accounts

You'd need to link your PoL ID with a Square Enix ID, and sign in with the SEID.

I feel you, Gulk. My urge to kill things with sharp objects has been burning bright lately - I'm reinstalling WoW right now (HD went FUBAR about 5 months ago) and may possibly.... possibly..... -possibly- at some point resub FF around when that first update comes out.

The thought of grinding on the only job I ever truly loved (war was fun, and so was pld, but they aren't drg) again and having it mean something other than empty merits for some other job has me giddy.
