Was looking at the blizzcon Starcraft stuff and saw they are adding two new leagues, pretty damn awesome in my opinion. Master for the top 1-2% and Grand Master for the top 200. I wonder what the cut off is for Master at the moment, I beleive the top 200 cut off is something around 1800-1900.
Plus chat channels by december! Need a BG channel.

I'm pretty sure the Grandmaster thing is only for 1v1. I just don't see how you could determine a top 200 for team games when there are different teams and random teams. I don't think there is actually a specific points cutoff for the top 200 either, it's calculated in the different way using both ladder points and MMR.

I'm glad if they limit it to 1v1 players, make more sense. I'm glad they added a new league, getting to "master" level seem to be a nice objective. I know im below this level, but it sound like something that is doable with more practice.

I think they should reset the ladder before doing this. It needs to be more then just points that get you into the "Master/Grand Master" league. That is something i will definatly try for though. I know my Ladder score is low, but whatever, if i actually played 1v1 league i'm sure i would be as high as Kaylin and them

this, i simply don't find enough time to play 1v1. whenever my friends are on im constantly being asked to 2v2 or 3v3 or 4v4 or play against some computer.

if i 1v1'd i'm sure id be 1800+ my buddy is 1200 diamond and i stomp him like no tomorrow.

edit: 1800 sounds conceited lets say 1500

I don't know when but i'll be back sucking at bronze league again!

You only need to save like 600$ for a PC that can handle SC2 quite well ^_^

So... I really am noobish at this game it seems. I can't figure out a strat really against one of my friends who plays zerg (and, I'll admit is quite good) but...

what should terran be doing against baneling -> muta -> baneling -> muta transitions?

I see mutas, I build marines. He flings banelings, and my marines die a horrible horrible death (plus all my scvs). Makes me a sad panda.

It's one of the few compositions that have no easy if any counter, Thor Hellion works very well against most zerg builds. The ideal thing would be MMM + Seige Tanks and micro your MMM from the banelings your seige tanks can't kill but that is pro-level kind of stuff. I have seen some strategies where the Terran just goes straight Marines and since they are cheap and efficient even if you lose them to banelings its not exactly a big deal and you just macro up a shit ton more.

There is no answer to question like this. How late in game? How many muta/bane? Upgrades? Which map? Your have to use different approach for differents situations, even if it's the same units.

Ideally, a few blue flame hellion can clear baneling in no time. (hit and run and you might not even lose any). If there is zergling, it a little more complicated, but fighting at a choke will usually do it. If it's a baneling bust and you don't have unit, block your entrance with barrack or another expanadable building (it will take like 10 baneling to destroy it)

And to deal with muta, If you're stuck in a defensive position, or don't want to leave your base, turrets with range upgrade usually do a great jobs. Build 2 pack of 2 in your mineral line, and you can take out 8muta easily. If you want to go on an offensive, a mixture of thor and marine generally works decently. Fighting baneling however always involve a lot of microing.

Generally, if you're getting overrun, it's because your economy was poor, or you didn't match your opponent army. It's very important to make sure your opponent economy doesnt get ahead.

Hellions aren't very good against banelings, they are faster but have to stall to shoot which allows the banelings to catch up. Plus banelings aren't light so Hellions only do 8 damage a shot to them and the blue flame upgrade doesn't matter at all. Tanks are the real baneling killers, direct hit will 1 shot and the splash does a lot of damage since they tend to clump up and have such low health.

The reason why I like hellion is that they will do a decent job against the zergling that inevitably follow up,. If there is no upgrade involved, 5 helion doing 8 dmg each will clear a decent amount of baneling (they only have 35 hp),

I agree tank are better versus baneling if you can afford it, but if you're aiming for thor/banshees, you might want to save the gas.. If you're going for marine+tanks, then w/e works.

If you're going tank, it's a good idea to get more than a few though. Good players always manage to soak damage with a few ling in front, and as soon baneling blast the walls, shit usually go downhill.

I have a bad habit of ignoring my factory almost completely... I should probably fix that >.>

After a couple games, seems I'm just having trouble against zerg in general (as terran even, go figure). Can fight off protoss easy usually if they're around my skill. I get swarmed so easily and I can't do micro and macro well enough to handle it. Get locked into my base and can't expand, run out of mins
