Not me, straight to diamond right at the start of beta and ever since. yeeaaaaah
Starting at diamond and staying there looks a lot easier than going from bronze to diamond. I'm at rank 1 in bronze and won 8 in a row without getting upgraded to silver a few nights ago. My cousin won all his placement matches, got put in diamond and kept losing 3-4 in a row before winning one every time, and is still in diamond. I can manage beating my friends in platinum and some diamonds now, yet I still lose against some bronze players. Placement doesn't mean shit, there's a lot of players who willingly lost all their matches to be in bronze and it shows, I played against a terran last night who was microing like a motherfucker and I really needed 100% of my attention to micro properly with my roaches and lings to not let em get squashed by his MMM. I eventually got him from behind with a dozen speedlings, and it was really his only mistake of not letting any backup forces.
Check who you're playing against to get a good idea of your true rank. Your league doesn't mean shit, it's who you're playing against that mean something (of course, they need to have many match played or they are in the same situation as you).
Players can have high MMR in any league, I'm almost at 2k diamond and fought a Gold player last night twice.
Hey all. I'm a plat toss player and I've been having a lot of problems vs Terran. Can anyone give me some tips. Friend told me chargelot templar combo works well but against any good T who does any degree of scouting it just results in banshees raping me. Any thoughts?
There are tons of different strategies, if you are having Banshee troubles just go 3 Gate robo. Get out a few colossus (3 is kind of the tipping point) and a ton of gateway units and make a big push. High Templars absolutely demolish terran but getting them fast is not a very good idea so it's a late game transition (as it should be for how strong they are). Of course there are tons of timing attacks against Terran like delayed 4 gate for zealot legs, fast immortals, +1 blink stalkers, whatever.
Templars are so hard to use though. If there is tanks or ghosts around, you have to be on god tier to use them properly.
[edit]
I'm not saying to not use them, it's just that it's very to lose a game when you go templar if you do a wrong step.
Was just messing around when I said that, poking fun at Fal
Can't get placed in diamond by the way (even if you 5-0), you need to be promoted just the same as if you were being promoted from bronze. I had to play nearly 20 games I think before it promoted me to diamond.
Pretty much always the situation for people going against me cuz of my ridiculously large bonus pool, lol. I think I'm only at like 1100ish, but last time I played it mostly seemed to place me against 1900-2100 point players (but yeah, huge variance b/c of all the other people like me with a low # of games).
the current trend for pvt is void ray play isn't it?
also 2 observers: 1 for scouting/vision and 1 for your mineral lines
MMM is my biggest problem. It really just seems like derp de derp marauder stim, and my toss ball is gone. Usually I'm hit right as I get my first immortal out but it only takes a few seconds of focus fire to bring that down. I'm not sure if I can produce any faster, really out of ideas vs T lol.
The Voidray thing works against more than a Thor Banshee build if you use it like Choya did against MVP, with a quick 1 base 2-3 gate timing that abuses players who build at their choke.
Yeah, Void Rays (non-cheese) aren't really used against Terran. It's too easy for them to pump out a few marines and hard counter them. Generally against T you'll see early Immortals to deal with Marauders (unless they go 2rax all-in, then it's all Zealot + Sentry), and either HT or Colossus coming out mid-game. Late-game you'll often see both.
I would hardly call it cheese, it's as viable an early tech option as anything else. They help defend early marauder pressure as well or better than fast robo, and the 2gate timing attack with them can put a ton of pressure on most tech builds and easily allow you a safe expansion. The trick is to transition out of them at the correct time (primarily into colossus or templars) so that you can take advantage of the unit composition you force the Terran into. The added bonus of doing a void ray open is you already have the stargate to start phoenix production to help deal with vikings if you choose to go colossus.
Late game, I'd definitely say dual tech is the key. It forces the terran to sacrifice a lot of army space on hard counters or face the punishment of whichever unit they haven't. We don't get to see enough of that super lategame play though, there is just too many pressure tactics both sides can do to each other to slow that down in the TvP matchup. Eventually, one of those attacks designed to put pressure does a little too much damage, or a far to little, and one side ends up crushing the other in the midgame. At least in my experience.
Hey i'm looking for a partern for 2v2, matchs playing with random people starting 2sux,(play as Zerg, And can Rush)

I fucking give up, I just seem to get worse at playing, I just lost 8 in a row without any chance of winning really, and that's in fucking bronze league. I watch replays, practice my builds but when some motherfucker comes with a few voidrays or mass chargelots I can't seem to do shit. Fuck this
Tip: When they build Void Rays, build things that shoot up.
That happens to me. When they block up I have no idea what's being teched to in 1v1. So either I go heavy early tech like a shit ton of roaches/lings, and they just make fucking vrays to wreck me. Or I try to jump to mass hydra and they rush before I have shit out. I hate 1v1s. -_-;
