Yeah, I'd be interested if it was bracket style. The other tournament was cool, but it was so difficult setting up so many matches.

The thing is, SC(2) is one of the closest things to 'real' competition that video games have. You don't (usually) see tennis pros calling each other skill-less faggots or something to that effect and it's the same in starcraft. You have respect for your opponent. I'm not saying bronzederp1 and bronzederp2 feel this way when they play each other but the mentality/precedent from the upper levels hugely affects how the community thinks.

I know in pro-Basketball there's a LOT of trash talk. Maybe it's not as insulting as it is in Starcraft, but how much of that is because you can't pull off cheesy wins? IdrA rages because he feels people legitimately don't belong in the competitive level and they are crutched up by the cheese.

Comparatively, usually when someone loses in pro-sports they will pin it on their failure or the better play of their opponent. You don't get to the pro-sports leagues without legitimate talent.

(Or at least they will put on that face because the public hates a sore loser and that trades off with sponsorship/advertisement deals. The same is not true of eSports.)

Would not have said better myself. Some people (including myself) would much rather see who is the victor in a full-on battle rather than who's the best at using the back door, or abusing mechanics. While it IS a legitimate tactic, it's just not how some people like to play it, me being the first.

I will make a new SC tourne thread in a few days, busy atm. We'll see how many sign up, we can split up the brackets between like copper silver low-mid gold in 1 area high gold plat, diamond, master in the other, or something of that sort

yea, team games are fucked, I had a 3v3 with a friend of mine, diamond diamond bronze..his 2nd game or so.. vs Master diamond master, we were favored..what?

The bronzes tried to go straight Brood and straight DT too, when I told them we would get pushed before DT/Brood hit the field they just went "Don't worry, watch."

I watched them leave the game at 10 minutes from a zeal/marine push

Favoring works weird. It's not a very good scale. You can see yourself as favored, and at the same time they can see themselves as favored. It compares MMR (your hidden match making rating) to their visible points. That makes it so you can each see each other as favored and vicaversa.

I noticed that playing the single player part. I think it's just a western type of music in a space setting. Whether it was intentional or not anything that reminds me of firefly is a good thing

So what is the best way to watch the IEM SC2 tourney that day9 is casting. I found this http://www.own3d.tv/ESLTV#/watch/80266 but the first/oldest video on the list that I see has idra talk about him already being 2-1 or something like that so either the earlier games aren't shown or they are out of order and I would rather watch in proper order.

Unfortunately the broadcasting for IEM was really erratic. Not all games were played on the same stream, some weren't cast by day9, some weren't even cast in english, and I'm not sure but some might not have been cast at all. Best bet is probably going to be to search for "ESL" streams on own3d and just try to piece together the VODs that way. Thankfully once you get out of the group-stage play everything tightens up and I'm pretty sure it was all cast by day9 and all will be either on esl event #1 or #2 stream. Also good is that half or more of the games had Day9 joined by TLO who turned out to be a really good commentator.

6. Cannon rusher... that only build cannons on the bottom level and got them taken out by one marine over the ledge


This is why BM exists, people like this ruining games because instead of learning how to play like and against the people that beat them, they imitate the cheesy strats. Not even good cheesy strats.

Sad to say though, cheese is the name of the game when you get into the larger number games, like some 3v3 and most 4v4.

Voids and carriers shouldn't be a problem if you scouted it. They should have next to no units. =/

I just had the pimpest fungal growth move I've ever done and I have to share it. The game was down to 1 enemy and they had a metric shitton of MMM. I had burrow roaches watching in their base and some infestors ready. They loaded up around 8 medivacs to move out and I fungaled them all. I spam fungal every few sec so it doesn't wear off and make some infested terrans. They manage to get a few out at one point where I slip, but all the medivacs died with little to no effort and the guy raged out. Damn I feel like a gangster.
