You didn't respond to me, subzero, ingame D: so I went to 4v4 with sono/dole/eanae. GG guys, I don't really get on unless my brother bugs me or I bug him to coop, so just post here and I'll jump on (unless I'm in my abyssea set).
Also, I don't know what this means, but SC2 peeps on teamliquid do it so...

Apparently in one of the new maps you can siege the main from low ground and hit geyser.

So I just got cheesed and it was something that I at least had never seen before. Map was Shakuras Plateau, ZvZ he 6 pooled, then went behind my minerals, placed a spine crawler right in the middle and before I could get my drones off to attack it, placed 2 Evo chambers on each side of it in key places that made it impossible for my drones to get to it. I probably could have won had I not been retarded and used my last 300 mins to make a hatch and then cancel it, leaving me with 275. I was so stupified that he had made it impossible to get rid of the spine crawler that I made some poor decisions.
Iunno, has that happened to anybody before? Will edit this with a screenshot of it in a min.
EDIT: Apparently print screen doesn't work in SC2. Shouldn't be too hard to imagine what it looked like, a spine crawler and 2 evo chambers evenly spaced on each side of it behind my mineral line. Dumbest fucking thing I've seen.
And now I just played a Terran player who went 1 base mass reaper and I was doing my normal shit, keeping him from expanding and shit with speed lings but finally got up to ultras before I went and killed him to be safe and then he proceeded to call me stupid for taking so long to kill him.
Don't understand. Granted I'm more of a passive player then most but still, throwing reapers into a sea of lings, roaches and banelings is more stupid than anything I did that game.
Did you have your spawning pool up already? Could've just dropped a couple spine crawlers of your own.
Some maps like you mentioned have your mineral line very close to a wall, thus allowing enemy to cannon/spine right behind it and protecting it on the side with pylons (in your case, evo chambers). Really lame move and annoying to fend off when toss does it as a zerg expands to his natural.
They arent as good now , but microing reaper was always fun against Zerg. You can't just throw them away on the roaches, but harassing should still works to some extent.
I don't see how spine+chamber can works reliably unless the defender fucks up. You pretty much have to sacrifice everything to make it works and it leaves you wide open. The best approach in this case would probably be a fast expand as soon you see them plant the chamber (if you couldnt stop him) and keep creating drones. You will most likely be far ahead by the time the second hatchery is ready. It's also the best way to deal with cannon rush if you got caught offguard. Expand immediatly and mine as long as you can.
A drone rush would probably works too at that point if you know where he is. I cant imagine him having more than 4 drones.
Yeah I just made some poor decisions. Also the Reaper guy didn't try to take an expansion until I had my 3rd up. Had my overlords over the entire map and he just wasn't doing anything. He claims he was just "fucking around" and insulted me throughout the entire game, but I'm trying to be more passive in my games so I can work on my mid-late game play, which is lacking something fierce.
That's a pretty bad idea in general, because unless your opponent is even more passive than you (very unlikely, especially as you move up), your opponent will always be able to engage on their terms. What you want to do is be able to apply pressure while still macroing up. That's one of the most fundamental aspect of any RTS game and takes a lot of practice. There'll be times where after an engagement, you'll come back to 2000 minerals and feel like crap, but keep at it and you'll eventually be able to do both effectively.
Yeah I think its way more important to try to work offense in at all times, no matter how greedy a style you're playing. It's something even a lot of pros fail at, and it's one of the reasons many of the koreans look so unstoppable. They are just generally more active with their armies, with their harassing units, and with their scouts even when they are playing a far more defensive build than their opponent.
edit: Huk is a good example of a foreigner who does understand this though. He will move out with some of the funniest compositions or with tiny unit mixes (think 1 stalker 1 zealot or 8 sentries 1 zealot) and often times end the game with them even though it's not his intention at all. It puts pressure on your opponent and makes them make units (which is exactly what you WANT them to do when you are playing a more defensive late-game style, so long as you can defend any counters!)
