I was just thinking it could be quite good to have a thread of BG replays, show off the awesome matches or the random fails lol

We used to have a thread for BG replays, that was when SC had its own sub forum
Here's all our games from the other day. 10 of them.

Sono, Vandole, Kuishen, Hades(me).
Also! If you're new to starcraft and not sure if you're sold or not, try out SC2 Starter Edition. It also allows you to watch any and all replays.
Fuck I want to play starcraft again. Hit me up when it's fucking party time.
I've got the full game but haven't played online yet, trying to figure out how everything works before I face humiliation...
Going into it with the mindset of being super competitive from the start or even afraid of being humiliated will probably turn you off from the game pretty quickly.
If you've ever played an RTS before I'd have to suggest just jumping in and get to it, the placement matches will set you in the appropriate league and almost always in 1v1's you'll be set against someone with similar skill as you.
Or use up your 50 beginner matches and just dick around completely, there's a lot to learn from playing other people and seeing how they react instead of just the computer.
Everyone will obviously have fun with the game in different ways but I think having the perspective that it's only a game, unless you're planning to be a pro one day, will get you optimal enjoyment from SC2.
This all comes from someone who never played the campaign though, I was always only interested in the ladder. With that in mind I do really enjoy a few of the custom maps/games people have made. Especially photon cycles.
If we're doing games today let me know! I just got back from vacation...
I'm sure Julian and I would be down for some 4v4s.
I'm on now if we're gonna do some game.
Believe it or not, this happened today, lol. Look at my name and who I found.
(hueg, sry)
Spoiler: show
Was it actually him? Or just someone with the same name?
I'm more or less in the same boat as you. Only just started playing for the first time and out of 10 online (bronze league) matches I've won 3, so really don't expect to do well right from the start because it's going to take a bit of time to understand timings and such. Online play is nothing like skirmishes against the AI.
I'm certainly not ready to play against you guys yet, but when I do, how do I find your BG channel?
(Also, really enjoyed the Blizzard Con EU Invitational. Watching Naniwa taking down Terrans (who I have alot of trouble against, damn bio balls) was great. Hats off to Ret's zerg though, that was amazing play.)
Would like to point out that Searing Crater or whatever the fuck that new map is on a volcanic template is the WORST FUCKING MAP FUCKING EVER.
I just tried to defend a 4gate as zerg on that fucking map. Gee Blizz, thanks for making it so they can 1. walk right past all my spine crawlers from 3 different directions to just go massacre my main, or 2. go to a different ramp or walk around that stupid rock formation to hit my expo from a different side to once again, bypass my spine crawlers.
Absofuckinglutely amazing map design there guys.
/rant
Don't zerg have this problem on belshire? Don't they just build crawlers on their mineral line, walling it in?
Obviously him, just like how he is secretly thorzain, lol. I always see this taru on my server running around, called Minigun. Also saw a Tgun I think, but I guess those are more common names. :/ Whenever I play some other game though, I'll make Tasteless, and get whoever I'm playing to be Artosis, and it will be awesome. :3
Also, to the noobies, especially the ones who have never played SC or any kind of RTS before, or hasn't watched any professional SC2:
Play against the very easy AI first. Pick a race. Play it out, check out the units, and see what you like. Try the other races, and then pick the one that you like. Practice a little bit, just stuff like checking out units, whatever, and try to beat the AI. Keep raising the difficulty until the AI rapes you. Once you have a decent understanding of how your race works, then go try playing against other people.
The most important thing you really want to work on at the start is keeping up constant worker construction, and making sure you don't get supply blocked. Mechanics and stuff. Pylons and Probes. Doing something cute like a 6 pool in bronze, while it may get you a ton of wins, wont really help you get better with anything else. And to the people who say ladder isn't meant for practice, at higher levels, you're right, but when you're <diamond/masters, ladder is pretty damn good. People can't see how many games you've lost anyway, so practice away.
I need more practice in the high silver to mid gold 1v1 range tonight if anyone is interested. :3
I'll swap back to protoss and play you eanae =P
PvP ~_~
No it wasn't him and i'm not secretly Thorzain. I don't think he would magically lose his skill all the way down to gold level lol.
