    I haven't played against Carriers/Mothership yet.

Hydra is still something I am tangling with as they are a lot stronger than previously. I am doubtful in Thor's usefulness against this type of threat but I wonder how Hellions and Sieges combo will do (double build Hellions).

it's not just the power, it's the mobility

mothership mass recall means protoss can attack and defend at the same time with their entire army, same for nydus worm

terran moves way too slowly for that

Most of the early-game SC1 strategies still work as well as they used to, so there's no need to change those up too much.

Rivero, if you've never played the original, I'd suggest picking it up and playing with it for a bit. You can get a feel for all three races and learn a lot of the most basic build orders and strategies playing against the computer.
    Yup Yup

Unless they dicked with the timing, in SC1 you could have that first barrack and the first depot complete at the same time. Youll need to start the first barracks before that depot though. If done any other way, vs a good player, and a rush will get you.

Hellion rape hydra (and I assume broodling), and viking probably do fine against broodlord. Both units are cheap, so it's probably the best options. If the other guys is good at microing...I'm not sure how you cna stop that.

If someone use mass carrier, you should be able to get mass battle cruiser, no? Yamato twice on every carrier, and you should get ride of a few. I dont think any other units can last against them.

With every harassing possibilities, it's probably better to not let the other reach endgame on terran. Nukes, and banshee work well for harassment.

I found my Terran game improved a lot when I spent the whole game harassing with Reapers / Helions or Banshees and punishing expos with nukes (they only cost 100/100)! Never letting them sustain a solid economy means they never hit the late game problem.

The only other alternative was Lost Temple, which I admit, is a great map, but I'm pleased at the idea of playing real starcraft game on b.net. The original b.net was terrible if you weren't with friends.

I took too long reading up what does what and it just kept piling up on me. Oddly enough I won because the guy just up and left but I decided to stay off Zerg for a while.

I just hate the entire rotation on Larva. It's kind of convenient if you're pro but as a noob it just irritates you from lack of control.

I'm also kind of sucking with Terran. I tried Banshees and Ravens but it just took so long to get them teched and ready, so my opponent was well armed and entering my base by the time I was ready to go hit his base. One game I tried Marines/Hellions/Marauders but I just got overwhelmed by an equally sized Roach army.

Protoss is definitely my favorite race just because it's so much more relaxing to play compared to the other two. I usually get some Zealots for security with a Photon or two for Muta-harass and then I grab some Colossi/Immortals and go to town on most armies. :D My only issue has been lack of anti-air and those are generally the only times I find myself losing as Protoss. That or getting rushed very early by an opponent who is usually much better at building faster/efficiently than me.
Took me a while to get used to Zerg in the original, but once I got the hang of it, the other two just feel so slow. The real simple solution to the Larva mechanics is just more hatcheries. Zerg was never a power race, it was nearly always centered around the swarm of relatively cheap units. Even lings end up being a force to be reckoned with when the zerg player can pump out unbelievable amounts of them. With a stable economy, having multiple hatcheries (I don't usually roll with less than 4. If the game goes longer I'll be producing my army from 6~8) lets you pump out reinforcements before the first set is dealt with, so if your opponent isn't paying attention to the proper counters to your units, they'll be overrun very quickly. The new Queen also helps tremendously. I also think I was able to directly hotkey my larva (and the group would refresh as they respawned), but I need to check again when I get home because I easily could have been mistaken.

That said, they made a lot of changes to the zerg mid and late game that I'm still just getting used to. Very upset about not having my guardians anymore, but I haven't gotten around to playing with Brood Lords yet so we'll see.

I toyed with Terran a bit and had some success with Vikings. They're surprisingly powerful against air units, and their ability to fly in, switch to a ground harasser, and then revert and fly away has a lot of potential. I won my first match with this strategy, though admittedly my opponent's ground defense was useless. I could see pairing Vikings with Banshees as a very powerful combo. Reapers are also excellent harassers with their ability to jump ledges and quickly enter and exit the battlefield. Thor's really powerful too, but just like any big end-game unit, it either needs backup or you need a massive group of them.

Once you experience brood lord. you won't want to go back to guardian. It's a shame they cost so much, but god, they rape.

Yeah lol@ shame they took out guardian. Brood Lord literally has the damage of about 4 guardians, has nearly 2x the hp with high armor, spawns a wall of units that make literally ALL ground units or defenses useless against them, and on top of everything else it is morphed from a very high dps AtA attacker giving you an easy support army (by only morphing a percentage of them to BroodLords). Its hard/impossible to tech straight to them without losing, but as long as you remember to do it when you're main strategy has allowed you to get into the lategame against a ground army, its basically your auto-win button.

edit: Oh another important point: The broodlings that it spawns benefit from ground upgrades, not air. So your Brood Lords benefit from a ground upgraded army when you switch to them late game making the transition even easier and stronger.

Upgraded colossus have range 9, but thats not really important because they're ground to ground. Thors have range 10 air attacks, but I think it takes 7 slow volleys to kill a Brood Lord.

I guess 250mm canon would take out a few, but yeah...

What's the strats with zerg against the cheating computer that doesnt involve screwing his AI by killing his first expand. Protoss and terran outnumber me everytime.
