Random variables aside, the more you win, the tougher your opponent get. It's nearly impossible to get a winning (or losing) streak because of that. If you won 8 times in a row, you're going to play against someone who is most likely much better than you.

Your "average" matchup on the other hand will be calculated over a longer period of time and is determined by an invisible ladder score that pool every single players in the same big league. Your actual league has nothing to do with it, and it's very common for a high bronze to be ranked higher than a low silver.

The promotion are a bit more complex, and I'm not sure if Blizzard said how it was working, but typically, if you're fighting people from another league constantly, it often mean you will be promoted soon. Once the game decide that you win reliably enough (it can even happen after a defeat), you will be moved.

Once you are facing your promotable league 50% of the time, using this point as a "starting point" you can expect to get promoted in X amount of games. X being 10% of your total games played to get to this point (Assuming a 50%+ winning percentage against promotable league)

Ex. I am facing my promotable league 50% of the time on game 75. I can expect to get promoted in ~7-8 games as long as I maintain a 50% winning percentage against aforementioned opponent.

Am I reading this right? If one of your teammates are rushing Void Rays, then you tell them basically "stop and go 4gate or I'll kill you"?

Also applies to Ghost Academies that are arming nukes. I give the benefit of the doubt that they could be smart and use EMP until the nuke gets armed.

I figure if I'm going to lose due to a stupid strategy by an ally, I want the pleasure of crushing the retardation with my own hands.

Pretty sure that's the case. If you want to win 3v3 or 4v4, then play with people you know and Tier1 / tier1.5 rush.

If you're playing 3v3/4v4 random, the same will apply, but you're more likely to have teammates who don't care quite as much about winning. Especially if it means doing the same boring shit game after game.

Could use the same logic for killing your retarded ally and using his econ/production structures to kill/win by yourself. They should thank you, they're getting points they otherwise would not get.

His fun encroaching on Gredivals fun, etc etc. This is why I don't 2v2 unless I know the partner.

More like Gredivals fun obliterating the fun of any teammate he has. I don't know why anyone would play 2v2+ with randoms if you take it seriously. They're all going to be either casuals or normal players goofing off because it's not 1v1.

Should be the same for all team games. You can't go into a random team game EXPECTING to win, because you will be disappointed almost every game by someone on your team doing something counter-productive lol.

It's not all that surprising either because 1) Effective team strategies require coordination (good luck with that in Random teams) and 2) They are usually just early timing pushes (which is pretty boring when people often play random team to mess around).

And what if I say that having to deal with someone who rushes Voidways obliterates my fun? The fun argument can always be turned around. They piss in my cheerios, so why shouldn't I make the game fun again for myself through retaliation?

I don't know why anyone would play with a mindset of losing and not caring about victory. It's not just something that happens in Starcraft, it happens in any online game with random pickups. Random trolls, people who don't care about learning/improving, etc. And I don't feel that I shouldn't have to a complete team of people I know every time I play multiplayer in an online game in order to enjoy it.

I didn't know Salodin at all before two days ago but I had lots of fun playing with him in 2v2s. Not just because we won; we lost about 40% of the games we played. But we both tried our best and learned from the mistakes we made during the games we did lose, so I didn't mind losing. I don't understand why the experience can't be the same with anyone else "random" I play with online instead of getting the "HUEHUEHUE I BR I RUSH VOIDRAY" people. And especially because I seem to get them stuck on my team a disproportionate amount of time comparative to having to fight them.

If someone doesn't take it seriously why does it matter if I take him out of the game so that I have a better chance to win? They shouldn't care if they don't take it seriously, and it gives me a chance to win (I have won by taking my ally's base as an expo) so technically everyone wins right? Derp derp.

Well, at the very least, their method of having fun doesn't lead them to think that they'll get banned:

This method maximizes my utility out of the $50 I spent on this game, even if I have to spend another $50 (or multiple installments for multiple bannings, and more for the expansions) down the road.

And normally I think I wouldn't get banned, but at the same time I feel Blizzard is especially prone to casual coddling (as is most of the industry these days) so I'm afraid it could be considered harassment.

And that doesn't say anything about how things should/could be. I've stated multiple times in reference to Valve DotA2 vs. S2 HoN that the strength of the original DotA community was its initiative in anti-trolling in order to create a fun environment. Community maintained global banlists where you could be banned for feeding and pulling the "It's just a game card." If Valve wants DotA to be successful, especially by displacing HoN as the official DotA style game in the MLG, it needs to be permissive of user based anti-trolling measures. And I think the Starcraft II team multiplayer would be vastly improved by similar adjustments to matchmaking.

Thursday is good for me, so long as nothing comes up Friday.

You can't really compare doing 2v2+ games in SC2 to playing DotA/HoN etc. There's only one method of competition in those games so you're always playing the most competitive mode. The most competitive mode in SC2 is 1v1; that's what people practice for and what they care about. When those players want to blow off steam and goof around, they queue up for 4+ player games.

and I don't feel that I shouldn't have to a complete team of people I know every time I play multiplayer in an online game in order to enjoy it.
I'm assuming "shouldn't" is meant to be "should" here.

Like I said, most people only take 1v1 seriously. You've decided the other modes are where you want to compete, that puts you in the minority. As much as you might like it, you're going to have to find other members of that minority and queue with them if you want to start winning consistently and stop team-killing randoms.
