Youd be surprised how effective two cannons on your mineral line is at destroying mutalisk, especially if you keep 3-4 stalkers there with the rest of your army on the move.

Against zerg I like throwing up an early stargate and harassing with at least 2 void rays. This will force him to make spore crawlers and (might) transition into hydralisks instead of mutas.

I liked that before when they were more powerful, but it's pretty damn risky now. If the guys know how to micro his quest, if he has some muta or hydra up, you're probably going to fall behind at that point.

If you scout a muta build on 2base and they have no spine crawlers, 6-7 gate +1 timing will kill them. If they'er turtled and you can't, get blink, cannons in main and nat and take a third. Start teching into HT and have stalkers in your main and natural, if you have the extra gas you can morph in an archon or two so they can't keep their mutas clumped. Turn flyer helper on in options to help with aiming your storms, it'll most likely turn into a base race if the Z is any good, so save your warp ins for your bases, and keep a HT back at every base.

I just started messing around with a muta ling build for zvp, and it's been incredibly effective. Probably because most protoss in this level just never really see mutas that often.

On my build, I open with mass upgraded lings. I get armor first if I see that they either forge fe'd, or 3gate expanded with a forge on the wall. Actually, I try to do double evo's, but early game I get the armor first almost always just to save me from these timings. I also put down a roach warren just in case.

I also put down a ton of spine crawlers. Kind of similar to the spanishiwa style, I'm adding 1-2 spines every minute that passes. Ideally, I have enough lings and spine crawlers to defend any kind of gateway timing. All of my gas goes into upgrades for my lings, upgrades for my mutas, and then mutas. All minerals go into drones, spine crawlers, lings, and an extra macro hatch or two.

I've yet to play against anyone who responds to this correctly, so I'm not entirely sure on what kind of hive transitions I'm going to incorporate into late game. I absolutely love the people who keep trying to go colossus, it's hilarious.

But as said above, if they're rushing mutas and not getting the proper defense, a +1 7gate timing will kill them. If you can't kill them, put cannons, get blink, and go into templars. (a big blink into their main, bypassing the spine wall, might also be a good idea) It's not very easy to storm mutas, as they move so fast, but you can dent them a bit, and storms rape lings. Archons also rape lings, and they also reinforce your stalker army A LOT. I usually reach the point in games where I have enough mutas with enough of an upgrade advantage that I can just take out their entire stalker ball. If they had an archon or two, it would have helped A LOT. Guardian shield and armor upgrades are also incredibly helpful at reducing the bounce damage.

I'm thinking that my current build can go into both broods or ultras, since I usually have 2/1 or 3/1 flying upgrades, and 2/2 or 3/3 melee upgrades, so either one works well. Brood lords are obviously stronger and better, but ling/broodlord is incredibly weak to the blinkstalker/archon/HT composition you should have forced out of your opponent, so ultras (or eventually both if it goes that long) looks like what I'm going to go for >.>

Hey, I know I'm still new to this thread, but you guys should check out the gaming/internet/anime show that me and a couple friends put together. we have a special segment dedicated to Starcraft, and we were at MLG this past weekend so we spent some time talking the event and the hypest matches. Just let the losses come naturally and you'll either progress to the point that you actually belong in Gold or you will get demoted eventually.

League is just a generalized status that tells you your range of possible opponents. MMR is what is truly used to match you up against people. You can still hit silver opponents on ladder if you keep losing, because your MMR is dropping. I ended up facing the same plat guy 2 or 3 times cause I kept losing to diamonds... and I'm diamond lol.

Why do I not lose points though. When I watch pros stream they all lose points when they lose. Does that not happen in the lower leagues?

Is the number under my picture/name my points? If it is I have 410 of them but when I look at the ladder ranking thing I have 0 points and 1 or 0 wins, I forget which. I have only won games in placement matches and the 5 I played today was the first I played since the placements.

If I recall correctly, the number underneath your portrait is your Achievement Score, not to be confused with ladder points. It'll tell you your points either if you click the ladder tab, or where you click quickmatch.
