It's understandable though since there is like no splash in SC2 most of the people who have never watched a Brood War game are blown away by doing anything outside of head on attacking.

This is hilarious, you are trying to pull the 'mad' card on me since your first reply and fail to realize I enjoy making you squirm. Why would I even be mad about a result that didn't influence me whatsoever. Hint: I played Protoss for the week or so I decided to try SC2.

Really clutch catch on the Stargate and pickup and dropping behind the forcefields to deny Zealots. Then the Viking sacrifice before the big clash.

I felt like no one was watching NASL. The crowd was tiny and the intro/awards guy should hop off a bridge for being so awkward.

The decision to start the cast at 10:15p EST (and it was late too), was terrible. Lots of backlash from the community. It's because HoN was added to the league and took place before SC2.

    Also relevant, mouz be salty!

I've been watching BW since 03 and played it from release, but whatever. I don't think you even understand what I'm talking about, it has nothing to do with using the splash, it's the fact that he was using his buildings to find the banelings that was impressive given the situation. If you you don't care about the result and played protoss why did you go on a rant about warp prisms after IdrA got owned at MLG?

IdrA is definitely one of the foreigners I root for the most, but the Warp Prism shit was really hard to watch because it was happening to many Zerg players and it isn't something that seems fair, like I said repeatedly it puts more pressure on the zerg than it does the Protoss to simply load a Prism and test the waters and just pull back if it doesn't look like it'll be a good move. The fragility of transports is a big factor in this, in BW all transports were fragile and the Warp Prism is not really fragile anymore and also has the ability to warp in which is like increasing the capacity of the transport without any drawbacks :s Dunno it's definitely strong and I know it'll be seen more and more as Protoss move away from Fore Expand 2 base timings.

He's not entirely wrong on that point. I think a lot of people, including most SC2 protoss progamers, were very surprised with how heavily the prism was buffed in that previous patch. I think they could have added half as much shields and it still would have been just as viable. I still think it's probably fine though, it still dies easily enough to concentrated fire and with a decent army split always does zero damage. In that sense, it's not unlike medivac use in PvT, where 1 dropship of marauders and a frontal assault can do infinity damage if you don't have the absolute perfect unit split.

Yes, being unable to move while warping in units is not a drawback.

ForGG making kids look bad. The forced smirk while holding his Code S medallion, holy shit I lost it, his face says it all: 'Heh...that's it?'

    Brood War is coming.

It's kind of ironic because July was a far more accomplished Brood War player than ForGG, lol. He actually even won a starleague (his third) just weeks before ForGG did.

That said, I think it's pretty clear that july isn't approaching SC2 with the BW practice mentality at this point, and I think forgg probably is. I'm sure Hyun and the rest of the TSL will be pretty crazy when they are at full commitment too.

They aren't exactly the best representatives of the "Brood War is coming" motif though. ForGG was a gimicky timing based player that had a very brief stint of success in one league in 2008 and relative mediocrity the rest of his career. His playstyle is going to work very well in SC2, but I honestly think an up-and-comer of BW that swapped like MVP is a better example of what solid mechanical skill from BW can do for you.

I'll be more scared when a truly active top tier pro from 2010+ makes the swap. It's doubtful we'll see Flash/JD/Bisu without the BW scene completely collapsing (because they are already making bank), but I think a lot of the other higher class players could make the swap if enough money is pumped into the scene in 2012.

Why would a top tier player swap? They are on $100k/year+ salaries and even a strong mid level A teamer is on $70k+.

That's gauranteed pre prize money or sponsorship deals ( flash on $500k + sponsorships + prize money ).

Where are you getting that wage information? Unless it's changed pretty heavily in the last year, the way I understand it, the vast majority of BW pros have a living wage at best. Only the superstars and aces are getting 6 figures.

And yeah, no one is going to steal Flash from BW if they aren't offering multi-million dollar contracts, but if enough money is thrown into SC2 next year, I could easily see some foreign teams investing quite a bit on an underpaid but very skill BW pro.

Forgot to mention, there IS a good opportunity for us to see some of these guys in SC2, even gods like Flash. That is if Kespa adopts it as a sort of side attraction, as was rumored a month or two ago to be a possibility for the 2012 season. There was even proof of a handful of teams updating their hardware to support it, and plenty of people with anecdotes of some progamer's early impressions and skills within the game.

I really hope that pans out and we get to see just how good they are. I just heard Artosis talking about some current BW pros (that he refused to name) already at the best-in-the-world level for SC2. I would REALLY love to see some of my favorite BW pros showing off some true multitasking

The info gets posted places, on korean websites from insiders, especially around renegotiation time/team transfers, then posted on TL.

    ( Flash salary was wrong, it's $200k-$250k ).

Yeah I found it in the Elephant in the room article. Still supports what I'm saying though. You have to realize the caliber of even those players making 70-90K. They are mostly the aces for their teams, not random A-teamers. Kal and Calm are literally the two best players on STX, Kal is one of the infamous "6-dragons" (aka top6 protoss in the world) and Calm has qualified and made it pretty deep in several starleagues. And those two are making 70-90K. Same goes for Leta and the others mentioned by name in that range. There is a TON of crazy talent even below that level of player that is just miles ahead of anyone we've seen switch over, including forgg (considering his condition post-2008 ).

And most of that talent is in rookie players and up-and-comers who have out of this world mechanical skill, but few results to show for it and pitiful contracts to back them up. That is just the type of player that I could see some SC2 scenes pursuing to try their luck in a game where their competition isn't a Flash or Jaedong.
