I wouldn't give that much of a shit about what happened. And to quantic about sponsoring him? They should know who they "hired" and be aware that while Naniwa's a good starcraft2 player, he's kind of dumb and you can't count on him being a good sport. If his performance should earn him a 100,000 salary(completely arbitrary), then he should only earn only a portion of that because he is who he is. The team has 0 right to be upset, imo, because it's nobody's fault but their own for hiring an immature child. This was bound to happen

Alex Garfield, the CEO of Evil Geniuses, gives his opinion on why what Naniwa did was unacceptable. I find it hard to argue that what Naniwa did was okay or didn't matter in the face of his reasoning and the fact that the community flipped it's shit in general.

Read it. Jesus was it a lot, but I still think a lot of what he said is what people will eventually boil it down to.

Naniwa's obviously got problems; much worse than greg and all of his history combined, probably. Of course GSL had to punish naniwa(I think, and Alex said it himself, that it was too harsh; I'd take it further and say it's embarrassing for GOM).
GSL should be upset(but Alex is saying it's because of whatever - I say they're upset because they put honor/etc up on too high a pedestal; this is akin to those mohammed cartoons in europe and the backlash to me).
Quantic should be indifferent because it was(or should have been if they're incompetent) a calculated risk taking naniwa on.
And the community.. still think they'll be split depending on if you yourself put honor high on your moral ranking or not. I enjoyed the one handed play from naniwa. It was a literal fuck you to nestea from naniwa - not the community and starcraft(unless you took it that personally, and that's different for everyone). Obviously the kid didn't want to stand on the grandest stage of all and take a dump on fans and starcraft... just nestea and maybe gom if he was upset he was forced to play. This was way more entertaining than a half assed game dragged out to 11 minutes could have been.

Sure. However, knowing someone will most likely take some action does not preclude them from any consequence of said action.

I think what makes a bigger deal out of it is people thinking others are making a big deal about it. The only people who have taken any action as far as I know are GOM, the rest are spectators being spectators. Who gives a flying fuck what people are saying?
