Don't think I'm really gonna attempt it in any 1v1 because It privy get me raped. Hoping more to use it to get some good scouting while harassing and keeping them contained or at least map presence. From my few test runs it has not really contained them but they do spend a lot on turrets/cannons after I hit their worker line which puts us with a slight unit advantage. It also helped to split up their army a little. Once I get it going a little better I'll post a replay with me and Saldron

Holy shit at Naniwa getting to round of 8 in GSL. When genious picked him into his group, it was hilarious. Naniwa was like "I dont have a lot of wins, but I did beat you. Then he went 2/0 against genious and supernova.

    Stupid phone. Ignore typos.

I'm sad for genius. Wanted him to win <_< I've wanted him to win for so long now lol. I still remember him going out to Rain's all-ins Ro16 or Ro8 last year

Naniwa moving on is pretty cool though. I like him as a player way more than huk. Huk never fails to disappoint somehow..

Naniwa's been playing amazing so far. Really outclassing everyone he's come up against and todays matches were inspiring to watch.
I really feel like he has a shot at this. I know the odds are against him and the calibre of people he'll be matched with are much higher, but looking at his play makes me feel like he genuinely has a change of going the distance.

As for your comment about HuK... yeah. I love HuK and love his risky play style and sometime he comes out and shows the brilliance he's capable of, but each time I watch him play I have a feeling of dread that the smallest mistake is going to cost him the game. I don't feel like that with Naniwa.

I've never been much of a fan of Naniwa's personality, but I'm really rooting for him now. A foreigner making it to the finals would be incredible.

Genius and Virus actually. He definitely looked solid in his games last night, but judging on Supernova's loser's match against Genius, I really think he got quite lucky with the way the group played out. He got to start out with a PvP series against Genius where, while he wasn't the favorite, he definitely could take it. And then Virus (who's TvP looks considerably weaker than Supernova) manages to sneak by Supernova and give Naniwa a relatively doable exit to the group. Nani 4-0'd out of this group, but it really easily could have gone the other way, with a quick loss to Genius and Supernova in the loser's, or a loss to super in the winner's forcing him into another match against Genius (doubt Virus would make it past genius).

Still, he's playing well and if things continue to line up for him, he could go deep.

Naniwa is weakest against zerg so it's good he hasn't had to play one yet but there's a decent chance he will next round if either July or Leenock get 2nd place.

Tyler and Artosis had some insightful things to say about Huk vs Nani in terms of play on SoTG yesterday. Basically that Huk, because he's so good at control(top 3) is willing to gamble on winning situations instead of having to readjust his strategy, such as when he didn't sack his natural in the match that knocked him out of code A. Naniwa, on the other hand is very strategic and able to adapt to new circumstances, just like when he lost his 3rd in the first game vs Virus.

This is basically how I've always felt about Huk myself. His decision-making during battles is great, his strategic decision making however, pretty questionable.

I hope tasteless loses his job if he keeps on casting fulltime while not trying even half as hard as artosis to keep up. He's as bad as JP/simpson - why aren't there better casters out there? It isn't that hard if you're as dedicated to casting as a player is to playing. So many of these guys are half assing it, what gives?

Going from artosis/tasteless casting to grubby qxc analysis yesterday was such a 180 in quality I don't want to go back

artosis has been carrying him for a long time now. I think as time goes by people will start to see that a lot of these casters just aren't that great, they got in while sc2 was new and the potential casting pool was small so the community took what they could get. I think as more players give casting a shot the community will realize how much better casting could have been this whole time and many of the current casters who don't make big improvements will be tolerated less and less

I think tasteless is going to stick around for an unreasonable amount of time though. Other casters like HD/pajama, simpson/JP, etc will definitely fall off over time but tasteless... the guy's like woven into the fabric of starcraft casters. He was the first one, basically - he's a part of the "best" casting duo and artosis, I think, really likes him. He's not even that funny, imo. I enjoy bitterdam's banter way more and they manage to somehow be more knowledgeable than him(probably because they're friends with the players while tasteless is close friends to like.. artosis).

I think only apollo/artosis try hard to know things - while someone like totalbiscut try hard enough in other ways that they'll stay relevant(and probably should).

I think the future is going to be current players casting games along with a talking personality like artosis/apollo/day9/etc.

Tasteless's banter and chemistry with Artosis more than makes up for his lack of knowledge in my book. He's definitely been coasting for a really long time at this point on the knowledge front, but whenever something like that comes up he usually lets Artosis jump in and handle the analytical side anyways. I don't see the need for two analytical casters being paired together. It's less friendly towards newcomers to the scene and it usually results in worse casting for the first couple minutes of the game where chemistry seems infinitely more important for keeping viewer attention.

The only time I have a problem with Tasteless is when he tries to seem like he is an analytical caster. He usually sounds way out of his depth almost to the point of HD trying to analyze a game. When he just lets Artosis take the ball in that situation and only jumps back in for play-by-play or color/humor, he's an amazing asset.

edit: I will stand by you though that Bitter/Rotterdam are amazing. They have quickly risen to my second favorite caster pair and in a lot of situations I do prefer them to Tastosis. Apollo does pretty well with TB as well. Those are certainly my top 3. Players casting with commentators or with each other is unique and enjoyable once in awhile as well, but they usually cannot maintain the same kind of chemistry and professionalism over long days of casting and with multiple partners, and most of their knowledge is limited to one race and how it interacts with the others. I think throwing them in every now and then to give the main casters a break is fine, but in the long run, unless they've retired and put serious effort into the more nuanced aspects of casting professionally, I don't think I'll ever rate them above the dedicated duos mentioned above.
