Same for me... have to redownload. Such a pain.
After reinstall I'm now getting the "endless loop" error everyone is talking about. Hope this gets fixed soon. Today is my first chance to play the beta on my own account.
you can still launch the map editor. I tried it out, its pretty overwhelming. Not sure how half the stuff works, i got as far as figuring out how terrain and object placement works. kinda.
Sweet update, can't wait to check the new map and try the editor.
Infestor change are welcome. Their range was so tiny since the nerf, it was like impossible to use them.
It was Lost temple, I just went in a corner, and the guy had no air.
About scrap station island. Stalker can teleport on it, upgraded collosus can hit the turret from away, and carrier as well. But yeah, going afk also works lol
Can you load existing maps into the editor? If we can't play we could at least get a look at the new maps in there.
I'm a semi noob when it comes to this game. Looking for people to practice and play with. Or looking for someone to teach me and show me the ropes a bit. So if you fall in this category let's get in touch and have some fun.
As this is the only result on google when you search for
"The patch "base\Mods\Liberty.SC2Mod\Base.SC2Data\TriggerLibs \MeleeAI.galaxy" could not be applied. (Invalid source file size: expected 49197, actual 49042.) If this"
I wanted to post my fix for it that doesn't require a reinstall. In your starcraft folder, under Mods/Liberty.SC2Mod I had Base.SC2Data and Base.SC2Data_OLD. I renamed my existing Base.SC2Data to something else, and renamed Base.SC2Data_OLD to Base.SC2Data.
When you first load up the editor it recommends that you load up an existing map to help familiarize yourself with the tool, so i'll say yes you can load existing maps into the editor.
It looks like the patch deleted any existing maps as part of the data wipe so i have nothing to load, and battle.net is still down so i can't DL them yet.
also bliz just opened up the map editor forum so that should be helpful.
Why get rid of metalopolis and lt?
not as terrible as twilight fortress
The reinstall thing worked for me, since i didn't deleate the installer, thankfully, so it was a quick fix. update is about finished (i think). I'll post my handle later, would like to play with some BG people!
You can pretty much take this to be the complete opposite of true, both maps were considerably more popular 2v2 maps than Twilight (which was the only other map in the 2v2 rotation). Lets not forget Shakuras and Kulas which were also both quite popular and were removed from the rotation even earlier.
My best guess, and what seems most logical (given that Blizzard themselves have had some concerns with Twilight), is that they are taking the maps out of the pool when they are reasonably satisfied with how games are playing out on them (no major bugs / annoyances). That's probably what happened here.
I'm not sure at all about the balance changes, but I'm not going to complain just yet. I'll wait and see how it turns out. I think its important to note though, even if they manage to get it to fair win percentages for all the races at different skill levels with these minor timing changes, that alone isn't going to make the game great. Balance is important, but its not everything. I hope they are considering a little more than that, particularly with respect to gameplay. I hope they are focusing on what is a fun & interesting mechanic/relationship and what is not.
The other parts of the patch notes look amazing. New maps, achievments, decals, portraits, music and sound effects, match history, community, etc. etc.. All looks awesome. Most of the unlisted changes people have figured out (see here) are also pretty awesome (with the notable exception of no longer being able to cast/target based on the unit wireframes at the bottom. wtf?!)
Hope I can get on soon, stupid infini-loop.
You can get past the loop by turning off your connection as you load the game, but b.net servers are still down.
To bypass the loop, you can use the SC2Switcher in one of the folder (SC2beta/support), but the server are down at the moment.
Feel free to add me on bnet. ATFSuicide.atf
new username is GRT.beta
gonna play some this weekend probably, feel free to add me and holla
They're pretty good, though Arid whatever was a little confusing. Ended up finding the rocks behind my opponent's base when I thought I was going through his front door. Worked out well though, it was completely undefended and my roaches tore his workers apart. Coalition is similar to Twilight Fortress, except the natural expos are right next to each other and the main base areas are fairly small. BNet glitched during that match though and dropped both my teammate and one of my opponents. New-found respect for Reapers though, sent them in the back door to draw my opponent's forces away, then pounded his frontline with Marines and Roaches before he knew what hit him.
