Idra is really BM, but he's very good at the game (and was arguably the best non-korean SC:BW player for a long time before that). He often loses because he underestimates his opponents or is unable to adapt to cheese, but he's gotten a lot better at predicting it and defending it over time. There's a reason he won most of the major foreign tourneys near the end of his BW career (sans-TSL) and has been winning so many SC2 tourneys.

At the same time, Orb is really just now becoming a more well-known player, primarily from his livestream. To say he's one of the most well mannered players is seriously laughable, watch his stream and compare him to the likes of Nony or White-Ra, who never seem to have anyone to blame for their big losses except themselves. I will admit, Orb handled himself in the interview very well, certainly better than Idra would have if he had lost that series.

So yeah, not really an upset, and really not the most interesting match overall. Orb made a bad decision to stream his practice games and Idra's personality actually worked out to his benefit. He certainly speaks like hes god's gift to SC and that practicing for a lesser opponent would be a waste of time, but he's not an idiot. He took advantage of the opportunity orb gave him to see what he was going to do, and I'm certain he took the match seriously. Even without this opportunity, that kind of scouting pattern is really not that out of the ordinary (particularly given the circumstances of the game), but thats another matter. With the knowledge that Orb has been utilizing more stargate-void ray strategies of late, Idra would have been terrible to not scout that.

They say the games are supposed to be played between April 28 and March 4, but the orb/IdrA games weren't played by the 28th (iirc it was the 29th) so take it with a small grain of salt.

I've been getting my ass kicked pretty bad lately... in copper -_-

I dunno how some people are getting placed down here when they seem to macro decently well. I definitely need to work on my macro; my resource production is getting better but I just don't seem to crank out armies fast enough.

You can win all your placement matches and get stuck in Platinum. It happened to me once and it was a pretty frustrating experience. I'm hoping they fix the placement system a little bit before releasing the game.

That's always the biggest hurdle for any newer player is getting over that hump where macro just becomes natural. You want to get to the point where you're production facilities are always in use, if you ever find a time where they aren't and you don't have enough money to put them to constant use, than you've either built them too early or built too many.

I play Terran atm. Just played a game against a favored opponent that I actually managed to win, but it was messy. My macro was much better though and basically the reason I won is by out-producing him... even though he did a mass reaper rush and took out my base while I got his expansion. from there I had enough marauders and marines to destroy his main... I was actually pretty happy with my micro for that, haha.

I've been putting all barracks on one hotkey but I'm not sure it always works so well for cranking out units. do I have to tab each time or with all rax selected, can I just hit D once to make 3-4 marauders?

You have to spam D actually. It gets annoying with linking Reactored buildings and buildings with Tech Labs.

If anyone has like an hour to just throw away this fucking FFA was so hilarious. The guy gets annoying at first but you can't help but start laughing when he goes "OHFUCK THE HUNTERS NOOOOOOO." I swear I went from hating his voice to falling in love with his hilarious screams while he commentates.

You have to hit D once for each Marauder you want to make, you only have to tab if you when switching production facilities. That includes going from a Barracks with a tech lab to a barracks with a reactor or one without an addon. Putting all of your barracks on one hotkey is fine, also don't be afraid to queue units up if you're having difficulty macroing and have extra money.

Did you happen to catch the ending Kaylia? He had to protect his last building, this one refinery and yellow sent all his drones to try and zerg it to death and he lived with 200 HP. rofl
