Yes, it starts out at 2, but it's really 5. So your last game will probably be when it shows -2.

What's wrong with achievement? I'm enjoying them so far. Make me feel good everytime I hit one that is hard to get.

such BS, i can hardly play the game on minimum on OSX, i bootcamp to windows and play on high setting

Opinions are like assholes I guess, but I hate how the achievement box takes up part of the screen when you hit one, and for a game like SC I think they're kind of silly. Your division+record should speak for itself.

There are tricks to beating insanes for all three races if you want to be cheap about it. Cannon rushes absolutely demolish them (even zerg if the map allows cannons within range of mineral line). Their AI can still be abused as well, even if they have a large enough army to win the game, they will always pull the entire thing back if they are being harassed by a serious enough threat (3-5+ reapers, muta or banshee harass, etc). You can abuse this to bounce their army back and forth while picking off their main buildings and expanding/building up yourself.

Managed to get a pretty ridiculous amount of achievements so far, think I'm over 800 points. Basically, I'm buying time until some nice customs hit the list because I don't want to go through the work of getting icons and whatnot from quick matches if they are going to all be reset in a week or two anyways

You can turn off achievment notifications, they are the Toast option under B.net options (change timer down to 0).

I agree overall though, records and placement are going to be the actual top priority for a lot of people, myself included. The achievements are a nice distraction though and a good way to encourage you to try different races and interesting strategies, so I'm all for them.

"Hating" achievement" seem a bit extreme considering how harmless they are.

Anyway, no one is ever going to look at achievement before ranking, it's just a fun thing to do on the side. They force you to use different tactics and races, which is a good thing imo. Hell, some achievement also help you improve your gameplay by making you try different build order.

How do you play against a single computer for the achievement? Custom game? I wasnt credited the achievement when I did it that way.

Is anybody consistently beating Insane computers? I'm getting rolled every time PvT.

I'm losing to variations of MMM pushes around 6mins into the game, even though I 3-4 gate and pump units non-stop.

I was watching a rep of me playing an insane, they get 7-8 minerals per patch and 6 gas, and we get 5 minerals and 4 gas. Thats what makes it hard as hell. There economy is Far superior, you just have to hit them early or you lose. Not to mention watching the replay the APM is up to 2000+ lol
