sweet jesus I suck at this game. I'm trying against 1v1 ai on very hard, trying out zerg and I just get romperstomped, even if I think I'm being efficient.
Probably the collector's edition portraits. Raynor Marine (not to be confused with regular raynor for a normal campaign completion), Tauren Marine, Night elf banshee, and Diablo marine were all perks for collector's edition. I'd imagine pink face chick = night elf banshee.
I have read through 1.5 pages of this thread but just bought SC2 tonight. Did anyone else immediately make the connection between the news anchor Don Vermilion and Ron Burgundy?
Make sense for the portrait. That's what I thought, but since there is a tauren space marine in game, I thought it might have something to do with it.
Anyway, doing the 8hour on normal achievement...and crap..this is boring. I'm afk half of the time when mission don't require constant attention (drill one)
That's who he reminded me off.
Yeah there is a drastic drop off from Hard to Normal. I'm surprised they made it such a jump from one to the other.
Just stick with it, when I first started playing SC1 1v1 I lost 20 games for every game I won. I imagine it's the same sort of deal with people new to SC2 although probably not to the same extreme, especially with the ladder system now. Eventually things will start to really click and the game will become a lot more fluid, at least that's how it happened with me.Originally Posted by Headspace
I finished the 8hr thingy earlier today in about 4.5 hrs of game time. Normal is such a joke in comparison to the harder modes, lol.
Where do you see total time for your file?
so do alot of players in diamond cheese every game? im rank 7 platinum, trying to make my way to diamond and i think im playing diamond players. been nothing but mass zerglings immediately or 3gate chrono zealots
How do you win against insane AI without cheesing in 2v2 (or 33v). I can win 1v1, but 2v2..if i dont go air and abuse the retarded AI (bounce it between the base), we just get destroyed.
Also, random thing I noticed. If you send a medic in the bunker, they will heal your marine after stimpack. It was pretty cool for the last mission (had all my bunkers on one hotkey and was spamming stim pack every time they were attacking.)
So far the only way Ive been able to beat Insane AI was:
Terran: Proxy 1st barracks > mass marines and overwhelm while he is building its 3rax with no units. I think I only needed 2 depots by the time I won.
Prots: Fast tech Colossus and add in a few sentinels. Wait for a push and force field them on a ramp and let your colossi loose on them. Run your colossi to their mineral line, back off using cliffs and meet them at their ramp and use sentinels to force field again. After that army is down its gg. For their first push I did use my probes as a meat shield for my solo colossus.
Easy cheese:
Proxy pylon in their base > Forge in their base > Mass cannons.
Zerg: Fuck zerg
When I dont cheese them I get rocked just because they make like 3x the income per base as me and I dont have time to build a force even when macroing perfectly. My best non cheese game against AI I was able to last 3 attack waves and they rocked me on the 4th. I wasnt even able to counter push at any time.
can give u clue how to beat 1vs4 on a specific, map thow for achivement
Step1: Pick The Lava Map with the Large Center to outer islands have 2 crystal fields each, and 4Gas,
Step2: Pick Terran race
Step3: As you Start game collect your Scvs into your base send it straight to the island,
Step4: Build SCVs and collect crystal, and start building Anti Air Turrent around hole base. Have few bunckers and siege tanks incase they do a mass drop off
Once your protected from air strikes, get medic ship take SCV to other island build base collect repeat proccess there,
Once this is done u shld have decent defence for your main bases and enough minerals to build decent army to attack
If you're Terran then the answer is yes. Everyone in the lower end of Diamond just assumes Terran is OP and instead of trying to figure out ways to beat Terran they just cheese every game. At least that's what was happening with me till I switched back to Protoss. It was either 4 gate all in from toss or 6 pool from zerg.
I already have all the outmatched achievement already, but I cheesed the fuck out of them (photon canon in a all terran base in megaton). I'm just having a lot of trouble to beat insane ai in 2v2. Last night the computer rushed me with reaper, then backed out of the choke point with static defense and went for the back door....I mean..wtf. You cant beat his army size, that's just cheating.
How did you get a cannon rush to work :/ When I did the outmatched achievements in the beta, I got them ridiculously early with cannon rush shenanigans, but at release, every time I try they pull most of their mineral line and rape my buildings (doesn't hurt them enough economically either because its still a 1v3 or 1v4 or 2 insanes). I ended up getting them with some reaper AI abuse (for the 1v2 AI at least) and the 4 base terran strat mentioned above (though I went straight 4 CC before building anything pretty much).
I pretty much never try to take on the insanes without some form of abuse. Pretty sure you have to abuse them in SOME way to win. Whether thats abusing bouncing their army back and forth, or taking advantage of positional situations (like colossi or tanks up a blocked ramp kind of thing). There really can't be a way to have a straight up bigger army then them as far as I can tell. Maybe I'm just worse than I thought though, someone better may be able to beat them straight up without any abuse.
Anyways, I'm almost done with the achievements I'd actually care to get on my own. Up to 3180 points with a lot of broken achievements that should put me higher (including most of my milestone achievs from campaign and challenges). Going to start actually playing ladder now finally. I see a 5-0 can still put you in gold though unfortunately, at least in 3s :/
I did all the outmatched achievements by cannon rushing on megaton as well, I had a few issues with it until I looked up a replay; basically, you need to put the pylon and forge in the right spot, or they charge at it with their probes and it effectively does nothing. Here is a screenshot of where to drop them on the top side of the map. I take no credit for this, I saw it posted somewhere else.

You need to do it at the right place if you dont want to get gang banged. Make sure to not get too close to any scv with your probe. they ignore the pilon, but not your scv
And the insane AI is fucking clever. It backed from our tank line and entered through the backdoor (rock) in another map. I've seen him reaper rush me from behind as well. He doesnt micro his shit too well, but still....
Just beat the campaign, last level was fun. Question though:
