You can "request" money in the trade window. It would be beyond awesome if it was actually answering your text request lol.

Is there a way to make one set of units only attack a certain unit type, or at least prioritize a certain unit?

Say if I land my vikings on top of siege tanks with the intent of using them to kill the siege tanks while the rest of my units deal with the remainder of the opposing army. Or do I have to right click and focus them down with my vikings group?

I'm having a lot of trouble controlling my army in general.

There are no real shortcuts to proper micromanagement. There are significant interface improvements since BW, but the heavy lifting is all still there. If you want a unit to prioritize a certain type, you are going to have to do the focus firing yourself.

Thanks for the answer. I was wondering if there was an option similar to double clicking to select all your nearby units or buildings of the same type that I was missing. Right clicking it is then!

The easiest solution is to use ctrl+2/3/4 to select other units. Tab works to select a subgroup for ability, but not for movement/targeting (unless there is a key I'm ignoring)

Both are pretty fun missions, and either way the end mission is beatable. It's really up to you. I've beaten it both ways, and either way is pretty good.

Getting ride of air unit is the easier alternative (not by much), but ground mission is much more fun.

thanks, I just ended up doing both but on different saves. I usually take like a while to build up armys but man 20 battlecruisers and 4 science vessels kill things fast.

You can use the archives to do the alternate mission and view the cutscenes, but if you're going for achievement, you will have to beat the game a few times anyway.

The easiest way I can think of is double click a viking then land your vikings, then shift+right click the 10 tanks(or however many there are) and your vikings will rallypoint their attacks to the tanks in that order.

The only thing I'm aware of in autotargeting is scv's/probes/drones have the highest priority when you use attack-move and they will kill those first.

There was a game where someone rushed another guy with SCV's with his army so they would shoot his SCV's first and he won with a weaker army because of it. I never found the game but this is when the beta first came out and people were doing all sorts of weird strats.

    What does control do?

I usually tab through my units and put my important ones in their own group. Usually for Terran I put my flying units in separate groups and then tab trough my ground units for siege mode, stim, etc. I put ravens in a group for easy access to drones, turrets, or missiles and vikings for easy swap between ground and air modes.

I hate tabbing though, because when I try to do it quickly I often overshoot what I want to select.

edit: is there a reverse tab function? That would allow me to tab in the opposite order if I overshoot?

Oh nice, I didn't think of queuing attacks. That will come in handy. At least I won't have to baby them as much and can do other things instead.

I wondered this too but then I remember something from my FFXI years if you do shift+tab it does go backwards.

    :D

I sometimes forget how many little tricks there are like that in the game that actually do make a lot of those things easier. But yeah, there is no way to adjust target priority short of focus firing (whether one by one or with shift-queued attacks).

A completely separate trick which I actually barely learned a week or two ago was the power of the return cargo button when you are trying to move workers from minerals to gas. As soon as your gas building finishes, don't worry about selecting units that don't have minerals in their hands, just concentrate on making sure you get 3 selected and send them to mine gas. Then hit 'c' (the hotkey for return cargo), and if any of those workers had minerals already, they will return them and then go work on the gas. It's actually pretty helpful if you are a bit obsessive about those kinds of things.

lol, I was hunting through the Gaming section like "Where the fuck is the SC2 thread? It was here just the other day... I KNOW it wouldn't be like 4 pages back. wtf?"

Then I saw that it had it's entire sub-forum... I'm so happy...

Did you pick the psi disruptor research? Build one of those at each flank. Are you doing the one WITH nydus worms or the one WITH muta/broodlords?

If you're fighting against mutalisks/broodlords you want to have lots of vikings/banshees, set a few vikings to watch over your two flanks and patrol your backside. If you're doing nydus worms you can get by with just banshees, I think.
