I use ravens against Stalkers/Colussus but I haven't met a Diamond protoss yet that uses a build like that, basically carpetstorm their way to victory.
Oh and 1/1/2 is fucking awesome.

burning tide is pretty fun, too bad there's no automatch in place for it, so most of the time the opponents are terribad

Yea people seem to think, hey lets just make workers and win! nope, i usually just bane bust and walk myself in, cause most people play terran, then after that, i get about 35 drones on gold, and our team wins!

Not really, very easy to target fire the sentries, especially if you're using banshees (assumed). It's called the PoltPrime, bwahaha.

Ok so someone please explain to me.

I like playing 3v3 a lot. I was placed in Silver league, I don't win or lose more than the other, but worked up a good win streak on it that got me from Silver Rank: 20ish to Rank 1, and won like 7 more games at rank 1 and went nowhere.

Recently been doing some 4v4's for shits and giggles cause I find in 4v4 you can tech up to more than just Zealot rushes. I was Silver 4v4 Rank 9 or 10. This particular game I ended up being Terran, the other team never attacked after they took out 1 of our guys with a reaper rush. I was able to have probably like 6 bases going for mins/gas and about 10 Starports constantly pumping 3/3 BCs while I was at 200/200 Supply. Suffice to say we won, and it said I was promoted to Gold right after the game (Also got Yamato blaster achievement during the game, rock on!) Anyways.. how is it I jump 10 ranks and get promoted to gold in 4v4 from ONE game, yet in 3v3 I'm at rank 1 silver for like 5-10 games easy?

This should have all the answers you need about matchmaking:
    http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/view...opic_id=150367

Basically, what it comes down to is that the system was reviewing your placement for 4v4s and you happened to do better than expected at the time and got promoted. Meanwhile in 3v3s, the system was still fairly confident in your placement and was likely just placing you up against a stream of mostly evenly skilled players (some better and some worse). You probably hit a pretty good streak, maybe enough for the system to consider moving you up by the end of it, but it wasn't in the midst of reviewing your placement at any time during your streak.

The links description of the difference between MMR (matchmaking rating) and displayed rating (actual points you see) is pretty important for understanding how much of the ladder works. Also important is to keep in mind what the system is ranking you off of. The ease of the game, APM, build, etc is all completely out of the question (too many variables, and not really important overall). Wins/losses are important, but the skill of your opponents is the headlining factor.

    Q: If I've never played 1v1, but I'm 2v2 Diamond, who will I face in 1v1 Placements?
A: Your performance in other brackets is considered when initially seeding your placement matches. In this case, you'd likely be paired with a Diamond player to start.
Fuck haha...that's why everytime I play with new player, we end up in gold/platinum easily, but when I play with diamond friends, we struggle in our placement and land in bronze/gold

Yeah. It doesnt help that I was messing around (mothership rush>_>), but I expected it to be an easy match.

Woo Diamond! Was getting so annoying because I was fighting people that where like 5-15th in their diamond league and it just wouldn't bump me up. Took about 20 games after hitting 1st in my division...

Yeah, the match was still close despite us messing around. My first mothership got blocked at 90%, and I lost my whole economy at the same time. It was very avoidable (moved my zealot out to help, then got backstabbed by speedling iirc). Oh well ;s

Wee hopefully about to rank up to lolSilver. Past like 10 games have been mostly silver, with a gold mixed in. Won most of them too (including the gold).

Feels good surviving and winning an early and constant zealot rush as terran, with almost a costly mistake made.

Wait, where'd you get that its just speeding up the animation? I haven't seen that anywhere, seems like a genuine boost to me. Most obvious using the MULE where you can get exact numbers with no variables (sending him down and using the trick until he dies or letting him do his own thing). With the trick, the mule is able to get 300, while without it they can only get 270.

Make sure you are sending mules to same mineral patch. Some patches are closer and yield the full 300 while others yield less due to being farther.

As long as the patch isn't fully saturated it's a boost in mining speed, regardless of distance. Workers just respond faster to a queued return cargo command than they do if they're left to mine automatically. 7% is a pretty significant boost, and at the very least it's something to keep you busy in the first few minutes of a game.
