While I agree with you on singling out a group of people in this manner being racist in a way, all of what I did in school for black history month was revolved around the achievements black people for the merit of their artists, writers, inventors, etc.

And I don't get the Black History Month as racist thing, so I can't really help you there. It does set black people apart, which can be viewed as a negative, but it also recognizes their accomplishments. If anything, BHM isn't racist itself, but it does point out the racism that's inherent in society by making it evident that we don't pay enough attention to the accomplishments of black people on a regular basis. We shouldn't need a BHM.

Actually we probably don't really need one even now... I think BHM is really "Appease the white man's guilt" month.
