if im around white people, i have zero problems with them saying the word nigga around me lol. i get more offended when they hold it in and try not to say it in front of me im not sensitive about that shit lol, and i have a very good sense of humor. ill do my best to let them know its ok, but you cant really do that on 1st impressions and even if you did, it would just be... idk awkward. but at that same tone, if i cant make a crack at that guy/girl back, than it would get annoying for me to hang out with that person. i generally like to date older white woman as a 22y old, so they are probably the worse when it comes to that (as surprising as that sounds).

Id say 99% of black people in america are blacks, the other 1% are actually from africa.

White people arent european americans, black people arent african americans. Though some black people will still get pissed for being called black for some reason.

Granted this brings up the whole asian people arent called yellows, so why should black people be called blacks. Im not european american, im not caucasian, im white.

Caribbean blacks are a lot different than African blacks. Completely different cultures and completely different set of languages and beliefs. The majority of the black people in America aren't simply "African" or don't identify with Africa on a cultural level, thus we don't want to be labeled as such. It's like calling every Latin person you see Mexican simply because they look hispanic.

I personally think the reason African-American is a stupid term is because it has some implication that black people are something different than just a normal AMERICAN. I realize the intent was to emphasize that we're all Americans, just different types, but even to divide the concept of who is American into separate boxes is a semantic segregation. It's just an unnecessary distinction to be making. The term was just plain not thought through very well when it was made, in my opinion.
