fffff, anything I could recommend off the cuff would be non-fiction; I've been really sad with the state of epic-series-fantasy in the last eight years.

Vellum: The Book of All Hours was excellent, but I can guarantee it would not sit well with most of you. Imagine someone taking House of Leaves-style mash together, except with doing it with the linear plot. Someone said it was like the author wrote scenes on notecards and threw them in the air. It's very difficult, and requires some pretty intimate familiarity with Sumerian / any dying god mythos. I loved it, but I'm perverse.
