Just bought it and completed with a friend. I would say the style was *awesome*. I agree they should have done whole game like thatI think I read a statement saying the next resident evil will be more to the roots of the series. I didn't like how short this was though
6 bucks for 1 hour of content! Also can last boss be defeated? Couldn't hit at all -.-
RE3 for me, simply because it was my favourite, but yeah, an RE2 remake would be awesome.
I'm not gonna be able to play this until I return home in August. Can anyone give me a little spoiler, any zombies in 'Lost In Nightmare' or all Las Plagas type enemies? :D
Would people buy it if they kept the same old control scheme as RE 1,2,3 & CV? They'd have to move away from The RE4/5 style of gameplay if they did this because Zombies would just be too easy to take down. =/ Unless they made it so that more than just 2-3 zombies appear in a room and made aiming harder so you couldn't just 1 shot every zombie to the head with ease.
Make a game with a huge interactive Racoon City, filled full of zombies on a Dead Rising scale where it is often better to run away and plan out your route through the city rather than charge through a horde of zombies guns'a'blazing! Would today's gamer prefer this smarter, tactical gameplay or not though?
Or, make zombies move in actual hordes for the harder parts. I'd love to mow down like 30 zombies with a shotgun, while having fun picking on the lone/single zombies spread throughout the room. You could get a lot of OSHIT moments by having a lot of zombies assault you in a small room. And even in RE2, zombie could move quite fast at times, I think it would be fine.
You can "beat" the last boss. All those sequences where it focuses on him, then he zoom's to attack you, and you have to hit a button to dodge? As soon as you dodge, run up and melee him (you'll get the option to). Do this enough times, and you win and get an Achievement/Trophy.
You can land the occasional bullet, usually when he's meleeing and can't dodge, but it's pretty rare, and i'm not even sure it adds up to the counted damage, you might actually have to melee him for the win/trophy.
This sounds cool

The new Resident Evil 5 downloadable content "Lost in Nightmares" is available. It features a special surprise.
As an easter egg, the game has a hidden "classic" camera angle mode from the earlier titles. Here's how to unlock it: Talk to the front door a couple of times until it says "?" instead of investigate.
"Lost in Nightmares" is the first major story DLC for Resident Evil 5. Protagonist Chris Redfield joins forces with Jill Valentine from the previous RE titles.
I think if they remade RE2 with the same control mechanics as 4/5 they would have to be more emphasis on ammo conversion. If there weren't a lot of bullets around people would have to conserve and it would be real survival horror. Not just run around blasting everything you see.
Just dabbled in mercenaries reunion. Excella is so broken. She can turn a majini into a ticking timebomb pretty much.
I don't think it'd be possible to remake the older titles with the new control style, or rather the play style. I think it would be possible to use the new camera angle and aiming/combat system, and just rebalance the damage/HP/etc to work more for precision shots and not just auto-aim like they had originally.
Also to your second point: Outbreak, duh![]()
Perhaps this is a stupid question, but how do you actually start "Lost in Nightmares"? I downloaded it, and when I try to start it, both "Lost in Nightmares" and "Desperate Escape" is written in red text and not startable.
Is it because I bought it through the NA PSN store instead of the EU one? I had money left on my NA account, so I thought I might as well buy it from there >.O
Did you install it after dling it before starting the game?
I probably enjoyed that game more than I should have, but that game could have been sooooo much better. I hope they revisit it someday and turn it into the awesome game it should have been
RE1 on GC was awesome! I know it still followed the old control style but it didn't feel as clunky (to me at least) as it did in the original games and I actually enjoyed it more than RE1~CV (Gameplay-wise). Lisa Trevor or whatever her name is just plain freaked me out. :D
Capcom needs to stop fucking around and bring back a tyrant-type boss. Apparently Wesker could pass for one but that shit doesn't count for me.
Even though having dogs jump out of stuff randomly was definitely shocking, having a tyrant come outta nowhere when you least expect it and start throwing 'bows always scared the shit out of me.
Yeah he is what made RE3 scary to me when I was younger.
Nemesis is fucking boss, you don't mess with the master. Though, I will admit that Mr. T (was that his name? Well fuck it, it is now) scared the shit out of me in B side RE2.
