Actually you probably read it in your head in an American accent, which I definitely do not have.

That said you guys all have Australian accents (neutral to me) in my head so I guess it all works out.

Well, realize that I am californian. America has a wide variety of accents, but damn near all the TV work is done in LA, so we have the most plain, baseline english in the country.

The humor appeals to me; slapstick is funny but I don't think American comedy does awkward pauses or irony as well, unless it's Curb Your Enthusiasm or something

Also British comedy tends to be darker

british comedy hasn't been funny since Monty Python and Fawlty Towers. Well, Blackadder was awesome too, but also pretty old.
