EA's Bazajaytee has announced that the Battlefield: Bad Company 2 v1.04 PS3 patch update went out today in North America (it will hit Europe tomorrow) and has detailed the changelog, as follows:

The following changes are in the 1.04 update of Battlefield Bad Company 2:

• Vehicles can now be damaged by friendly fire when playing Hardcore.
• The MG36 now properly has its red dot sight in Hardcore.
• Damaged vehicles no longer blink on the minimap for soldiers without a powertool.
• SPECACT kits can be used on all SDM and SR levels.
• 40mm Shotgun is now properly rewarded platinum at 500 kills not 1000.
• G3 and Mk14 can now use the AR Marksman specialization.
• Fixed a graphical issue when equipping the GOL with a 4x or Red Dot sight.
• Scoring is now awarded after a player’s death.
• Increased Tickets in Conquest mode and significantly increased Ticket Bleed when holding a majority or more of flags.
• The Conquest Horn now only plays for a short time when running low on Tickets.
• Updated the weapon stats in the Menu to reflect previous weapon balance changes (no additional weapon balance changes were made).
• Increased the power of the UH-60 miniguns at long range.
• Armored Vehicles are now more effective at running over soldiers.
• Fixed an issue on Isla Inocentes where destroying a fence would also destroy the building containing an MCom.
• Fixed various hangs and exploits.

An optional content update for the Xbox 360 will also be available tomorrow (8th June). Though it is optional the update contains numerous gameplay tweaks. As such we highly recommend all players apply the update as soon as it is available.

The update will be required to access future VIP Map Pack content. Players will be automatically prompted to download this update when they access the Multiplayer menu. You will need to restart Battlefield: Bad Company 2 for the update to take effect.

A VIP pass is not needed to utilise the update, however a VIP pass is required for access to the upcoming VIP Map Packs. VIP Codes are available through the in game store and inside all new copies of Battlefield Bad Company 2.

So, now that I've got a couple weeks of BF: BC2 in, I have to say I've improved a lot. I started a new guy (because my old guy's k/d was permafucked from not knowing what I was doing!) and I'm managing to keep a k/d of 1.1 without my favorite unlocks. I know the game's not about k/d, but whatever.

I've discovered that going Assault with a Saiga and C4 is great fun~ >.>

So early signs are we fixed the problem by rolling back a change involving SPECACT kits.

As long as this continues we are aiming to release on Wednesday (23rd) of next week. However this is dependant on how fast we can gain approval the patch is compliant with Steam. If that approval does not come quick enough the release will slip to the Monday (28th) of the week after (as it is a red day in Sweden on Friday next week and we don't release patches at the end of working weeks).

This does mean that SPECACT kits will not be available after patching as we had hoped but all other fixes remain as does the ability to play the new modes like Map Pack #3.

Electronic Arts Community Coordinator Eduardo Vasconcellos has shared a video today spotlighting Battlefield: Bad Company 2 - Vietnam The Battle for Hastings on the PS3 entertainment system.

You may already know that this expansion comes with new weapons, new vehicles, and four new maps, but what you may not know is that one of the most popular maps from 2004's Battlefield: Vietnam will also be included in the bundle.



The fifth map, Operation Hastings, will add a new avenue for PlayStation gamers to show their superiority on the Battlefield featuring everything that makes BFBC2 Vietnam amazing: tanks, Jeeps, temples, boats and helicopters all in an environment featuring a distinctive bridge that separates the map into two main areas. Though, it's not as easy as all that. It's entirely up to you to unlock this fifth map.

To unlock Operation Hastings, we've decided to start up a new community challenge for all of our fans dubbed The Battle for Hastings. To unlock Operation Hastings, our entire audience will need to perform 69 million team actions within Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Vietnam.

While this sounds like a daunting task, we're sure our PlayStation 3 fans can handle it, as these actions include resupplies, revives, heals, spots and repairs, allowing for plenty of avenues to achieve this goal.

Just note that no one plays anything other than sniper on PC because of how bad the hitboxing is. You can literally kill people hiding behind walls by shooting where their model was to kill em.

Damn that sucks. I just bought the game an hour ago from the EA store with the gunclub 20% off deal(that ends tonight).

EA download manager seems better than steam...at least in the download speed department.
