Gonna pick up the game tomorrow for my bday, gamertag is on sig if anyone wants to game up with me. Pretty much gonna play a lot less MW2 and a lot more of this.

MW2 was nice and all, but the game got tiring, maybe the DLC will be nice for MW2, but i'll just keep it in check time by time. Haven't played a battlefield game since 2: Modern combat on the 360.

Was playing some Bad Company 1 earlier (had it for about a year now, just I've been slow at working through it), working on my hard playthrough for trophies, as well as cleaning up on the gold/collectibles I missed from my incomplete normal run (had two levels left for that), then hopped online for a bit and did some ranking up.

Was surprised people still bothered to play it online given its age, and the amount of other competitive online titles that have come out since then.

Anyways, down to the question, is BC2's single player campaign any good, and of a decent length? I could use me another FPS to play inbetween other titles. I'll be done BC1 in another sitting or two whenever the hell those are at.

Why wouldnt you be able to get singleplayer to work?

When trying to start a new campaign it looks like it tries to load and it just stays at "Please wait...", even though it's not blocked by the firewall.

I played it last night and the level ups are ridiculously fucking slow, but I think that has 99% to do with me having no idea how to get points lol. The mechanics and general game play are so much different than COD. Getting used to the sniper rifle build though. Weird that there is absolutely no sway at all when you scope in.

BC2's SP is pretty good. It's about the same length as MW2's, give or take an hour. Lots of fun though for sure. Alot of railing on MW2 as well.

Uh what? Are you sure you're playing BFBC? Cause there's zero scope sway in any BF game. There's bullet drop, but no sway or windage.

There is no sway at all when scoped in. I was using the first Sniper Rifle that you can use if that matters, and it was also happening on the second one that gets unlocked as well.

Here lies the problem. Drop the recon class and pick up medic. Unlock the health kits / defibrillator and you will be pulling ton of points. Let alone the LMGs fuck shit up and your bro's will love you.

What I'd like to know is what gets you points aside from kills:

Medic obviously you get points for healing and reviving team mates, as well as killing opponents and what not.


What gets you extra points for Recon? I was spotting for a while too for my team, and didn't seem to get much extra points for that. By spotting I mean scoping in on enemies and vehicles and hitt the back button (on 360), thus marking there location on the map.

I noticed I got Spot Assist points when a teammate killed a guy I had spotted, but that got me like 20 points.... near worthless lol.

I don't want to be stuck with just medic if I don't have too. But if that's they only way to get points then I guess that's what I'm stuck with.

Motion mines (wookie balls). Shooting people, capping points and defending/attacking mcom stations.

There is a sensor you can unlock reallly early on that will show a few people on everyones map. Good for points. Recon really isn't a "bring in tons of points class" unless you are just raping bad pubs with it.

All kits have ways to pick up points easy, engineers heal vehicles, assault drops ammo, medics drop health and revive... conquest is another way to pick up good points. Kill people trying to cap a node, extra points... when you are capping, kill people, extra points. Cap or defend, extra points.

For rank ups: medic > eng/assault > recon. Best way to get in good with recon is just to really rape kids. Unlock the shotty or other all class weapons, and storm in capping shit.

Just stick it out and see how it is. Gets much better a couple of months in, I assure you.

Can't agree with this more. With the way FPS games are nowadays, well, they are really getting shitted up. Halo and COD4 are to blame, the old days were the good ones. Once all the people that just wanted to try BF go back to their shitty MW2 cause BF is too busy for them, BF will pick up. When they clean up servers and fix a few more bugs, BF will pick up. 2142 was an absolute blast with friends. We would have 6+ of us in vent, on different squads or sides, so much fun just trying to get their dogtags all day. I reallly realllllllly with this used BF2142's unlock system however. Nothing was better then playing medic for an unlock every map and dishing it into the actual class you wanted to play lol.

What's a decent match score look like on Capture the flag 1500ish?

The only time I've scored over 1000 is when I blew up a tank on Engineer class that had 2 enemies in it while they were trying to take our flag.

The kills leader in all of my matches so far has had at most 10-13 kills. Takes a lot of getting used to, as I'm used to seeing 15-40ish per match for myself on COD.


Ima have a few friends pick this shit up soon. I haven't had a single person say a single word in any of the games I've played so far.

You should see 2000-3000 for long conquest matches. 500-1500 for short completely dominating matches.

i just got this from gamefly and im having alot more fun then i was in CoD, and i was messing with all the classes like the above posts and sniping at far distances is so much more fun when theres gravity involved. it almost feels perfect.. i got some really long distance shots just trying to practice and its awesome seeing headshot from so far away because of the gravity lol. i just unlocked the motion sensor so imma start using that alot for xp.

also, whats a good sniper i should use once i unlock more?
