    The Ricky Gervais Show

If you haven't heard the genius of Karl Pilkington yet this would be a good way to get to know him. It's the radio show that gervais, steve merchant, and karl have done for years but it's been animated to make it even better.

I mean I knew from Gervais promoting this and listening to some of the podcasts that Pilkington was retarded but holy fuck. I felt it did get a little mean spirited when the only things Merchant/Gervais do is just laugh at him/call him retarded/egg him on to share more of his idiocy but goddamn this guy is something else. Best thing though is that this is just some guy Gervais met in show biz yet he is identical in his worldview to Gareth(british Dwight) who he based off of an equally retarded guy he went to school with. Simply astounding theres this many fucktarded british people (and I know ib4 chavs)

The tv show will be harsher on Karl than the podcasts are since they are sort of a 'best of'. Sometimes they do get a bit harsh on him but it's hilarious. One thing I love which I'm not sure if the show will have is when ricky and steve know that what Karl is going to say will be offensive to a race or group and ricky tries to stop him but steve eggs karl on to say it and it ends up being the weirdest thing possible and if not for it being karl who said it it would be quite offensive.

Karl trying to understand the million monkeys on typewriters recreating shakespeare is another gem that I hope makes it on the show.

they make a fred flintstone reference to pilkington's assertion of dinosaurs/ppl living together

edit: just watched clip, and was mistaken, you were referring to gervais who does look like flintstone, but they reference pilkington wanting to be him lol

I thought (Gervais) kinda looked like a badly drawn Fred Flintstone.

I find a lot of his material amusing, but I can't stand Gervais whenever I see him in interviews, he's such a smug bastard. >.<

he was on some awards or relief thing, forget which, and at the end said something about and now Steve Carell will come do the same bit but for much more money. Amused me a bit.

You've just described every awards show bit hes ever done.

Honestly can you blame him for being smug? He's the creator of probably the most influential tv series of this decade and is rolling in fat cash cause he gets paid for every episode Steve Carrell makes. Ontop of hobnobbing with all the beautiful A list celebs despite the fact that he's fat old and ugly.

he varies how he takes the shot at carrell award show to award show but its always there. I mean idk its only been like 2-3 award shows afaik and the bit hasnt gotten stale cause he dresses it up in other stuff (getting his emmy back for extras that colbert/stewart gave to carrell cause gervais never showed up to the emmys, explaining who the fuck he was to people watching the golden globes, etc.)

Extras was pretty good, I enjoyed it. I hated the UK 'Office' but I like the US version... and I'm British. =/ Ben Stiller is in the 1st episode of Extras, he's hilarious! xD Samuel L.Jackson one was pretty damn good too!

    Love the David Bowie episode~

Definitely. He is no longer playing the dumbass like on the office, instead his agent, best friend, and most everybody else he encounters is. Some of the plot setups, particularly season 2 are something to rival curb your enthusiasm and each episode he gets at least 1 and usually more celebs to usually embarrass themselves. A lot are british but there are some great American ones like Ben Stiller who is making his directorial debut with a movie about Bosnia in the 1990s. Patrick Stewart has another really great appearance as well. Also, Stephen Merchant has a great role as his clueless and quite possibly incompetent agent. And the christmas special is one of the funniest things he has ever written/performed in.

edit: Orlando Bloom had a great cameo as well, Harry Potter's was great too. And I mean its obvious the whole thing is allegory(especially season 2) for his concerns about artistic integrity/commercial success once he started making the office.

where might I find this ep?

edit: OH GAWD the 'nun' teaching her to talk dirty
Edit2: found an Xmas special, is that the 13th episode?

didn't want to make its own thread since it is just being announced but IGN says
UK, April 23, 2010 - BBC2 has commissioned a new comedy by Ricky Gervais, which will revolve around the day-to-day life of Willow himself, Warwick Davis.

Gervais has written the show - which will be called Life's Too Short - with long-time collaborator Stephen Merchant, while the pair will also appear in minor roles.

Davis previously worked with Gervais and Merchant on TV hit Extras, while he is also known for roles in the Harry Potter and Star Wars movies.

"We're having so much fun working with Warwick" Gervais told the BBC. "Pound-for-pound he is one of the funniest men I know."

The show is also being developed for HBO in the States, although there's no word yet on an air date.
