So I just got my first pair of contacts today... I had a few questions..
Do you have any tips as to put them in? I have no problem taking them out.
And where do you purchase your contacts? Online? Store? Doctors?

I find it's a lot easier to use your left hand to hold your eye open if you go over your head and approach your upper eyelid from above (like a monkey scratching its head, if that helps visualize it), rather than just holding your left hand up to your face
edit: like this girl is doing

Just practice; you'll get used to putting them in. It's mostly a matter of conditioning your eyes not to blink/squint. It helps to completely fill the lens with fluid first.
Buy wherever they're cheapest, usually online. There's no difference.
1800 contacts is where I do it.
You'll get use to it overtime, took me 45 minutes to do it my first time...
I usually stretch my eye lids opened with one hand and inserting the contact lens in the other, fairly simple
this is why im investing in lasic lol
Practice, practice, practice as far as putting them in your eyes. I'd pull the top and bottom of my eye using my middle fingers of my left and right hands and use my index finger to put in the contact, I felt it made it harder for me to blink and reject my eye poking.
The other thing I did at the beginning was to roll my eye back and put it on the white spot then slowly let the contact adjust over my pupils.
I actually have a somewhat relevant question: I have very big eyes (puppy dog eyes etc) and normal diameter contact lenses are REALLY annoying and after a few hours start to really piss me off.
There's a brand I used to have when I was younger that got discontinued that were AMAZING, they were bigger diameter lenses. I've been on like 1-800contacts.com and other sites and I can't find any contacts with bigger than like 13.7 diameter (I'm looking for like 14.2-14.6 maybe? I'm not sure exactly) and just didn't know where I should be looking or what brand / type I should be looking at.
I really doubt you want that big

Check with your eye doc first to make sure it's not a medical problem. They could probably find you a dealer for larger diameter lenses, too. Circle lenses (those ones asian girls wear to make their eyes look huge) are 14.0 but I've never seen non-colored ones being sold.
Sclera lenses are even bigger and rest of the white part and don't directly touch your cornea, but they're generally not meant to be worn long-term and you'd have to see a doc about getting clear ones.
Spoiler: show
Can I see a doctor about getting the chick who is RPing kos-mos? Is that a possibility?
Well mine are a prescription from a doctor since they are not 'standard'. I wear contact lenses since I'm 12 years old so thats 13 years of usage. The best I should recommand you is to watch how well your eyes breath air since it can damage your eyes.
The -biggest- piece of advice that I can give the OP is whenever you are going to put them in, get them close to your eye, then look upwards. This really cuts down on the urge to blink. Once you get used to doing it that way you don't have to look up.
What do you mean by how well your eyes breathe?
What he said. It's a matter of getting used to touching your eye without blinking. You'll just get used to it in a week or so, it's just a matter of time.. The fluid thing helps a lot too.
The first week I had contacts, it would take me like 40min+ to get them in. Now I don't even have to think about it. I just pop them right in.
lol I made the same thread like a year ago. Contacts are a bitch at first for some people, but the one thing I'd stress is that you will get it eventually. I used to take, no exaggerating, an hour when I first tried putting them in.
The best tip I can give is to use what works best for you. For example, I found it extremely hard to grip my upper eyelid and keep it open, but I found I could drag my lower eyelid down pretty far and keep it there easily, so I only hold the lower lid down. If you can do both that's easier, but if you can't it's fine.
This sounds crazy, but I used a washcloth to give me traction on the skin of my cheek at first. It helped a lot until I got better. Kinda hurts if you take a while, though.
Another thing that helps is putting just one drop of solution in the lens to form a suction effect that will help it get onto your eye.
Last, if you're really struggling, set a time limit. If you can't get them both in, wear glasses that day. Once you've got it, cut the time limit down each day until you don't have a problem popping them in.
I was told by my eye doctor that if you leave them in for long periods of time (like sleeping with them in) your eyes can't breath. When your eyes need air, blood vessels will grow into the iris of your eyes, which isn't good. I took his advice.
What I found was that if I held my lower eyelid and just looked forward while putting the contact directly over my pupil, it was the easiest. None of that "looking up" stuff they tell you to do. Once it gets close, it seems to pull itself into place.
Then, I got Lasik and long time ago and haven't needed to do this stuff in a long time.
hahaha
