My doctor told me I could get them anywhere I wanted. How long does it take your eyes to adjust to having in them in their as opposed to glasses? Sometimes my vision gets a touch blurry while I was cooking dinner the other night. For some reason I feel I may need a slightly stronger prescription.
On another note, took me only 2 minutes to get them in today! So happy lol
Adjust? it depends on the person really. The only time it bothered me was the very first time I put them on, because I felt very dizzy. After wearing them the whole day though and then the next I was never bothered by them again. It's funny because glasses usually bother me for a few days.
I don't know if this happens to everyone (probably depends on the brand, or maybe it's just me), but my contacts get *slightly* less comfortable after about 15~18 hours of wearing them (usually right before bed). I noticed you said you were having problems at night, so maybe you're having the same problem I have.
It's not really a problematic type of discomfort. It's hardly noticeable.
I wore contacts all my waking hours, every day, from 15 to about 24 and whenever I switched to a new brand or even a new set of lenses, it always took a day or two for my eyes (and my brain, really) to adjust to the tiny changes in lens focusing and feel before things went back to "normal."
However, since 2008 I've ditched my contacts for glasses, full-time. Why? Astigmatism, unfortunately. While my prescription for astigmatism is very minor, I just can't wear contacts anymore since they don't have the correction for astigmatism, just the dioptres for my myopia. If I try and wear my contacts, say to play sports or work out, I get an instant headache and feel like I've had 6 or 7 drinks - not safe for driving to be sure.
My optometrists have always suggested alternating between contacts and glasses - either taking a day or two off from contacts every week, or wearing glasses when I'm at home or not needing sunglasses - as constant contact lens use can weaken your eyes and make your prescription worse. (Plus the whole blood vessel thing.) On the up side, I rarely ever get eye-strain headaches anymore and, because my glasses correct my astigmatism, my vision is much clearer with my glasses - not to mention the sweet Paul Frank frames. On the down side, playing sports kind of sucks with glasses, though for squash it's instant eye protection, and it sucks getting it on with a lady and not being able to accurately see her facial expression unless our faces are less than 2' apart.
Anyway, your eyes and brain will adjust to the contacts quite quickly but I would encourage you to use your glasses every so often. Long stints at a computer using contact lenses always dried my eyes out terribly and gave me nasty headaches. I don't think I'm the only one who experiences that kind of problem with contacts.
