You're basically looking at an 100% Spell Interrupt Down Chance * (increase in shield rate) vs 9% Spell Interrupt Down Chance, assuming they work linearly. Given the shield proc also reduces the damage you take and the Spell Interrupt doesn't, I'd probably still stick with Buckler.
396 and can use valor cape instead of Gigant. Happy this topic made me rethink my setup.Code:exec pldnin_tank.txt input /ma "Cure IV" <me>; pause 0.5; input /equip head ; input /equip neck "Morgana's Choker"; input /equip back "Settler's Cape"; input /equip waist "Astral Rope"; input /equip body ; input /equip ear1 ; input /equip ear2 "Astral Earring"; input /equip ring2 "Serket Ring"; input /equip ring1 "Ether Ring"; pause 1.5; input /equip head "Valor Coronet"; input /equip body "Iron Ram Hauberk"; input /equip neck "Ritter Gorget"; input /equip hands "Iron Ram Dastanas"; input /equip legs "Iron Ram Hose"; input /equip waist "Trance Belt"; input /equip ring2 "Bomb queen Ring"; input /equip ring1 "Hercules' Ring"; input /equip back "Valor Cape"; input /equip ear1 "Cassie Earring"; input /equip ear2 "Hospitaler Earring"; input /echo === Paladin Cure IV HP gear (396 Cured) ===; pause 4; exec pldnin_tank.txt;
I'm guessing you thought he said NIN/DRK instead of DRK/NIN.
I still frown on HP down -> Up cure IV for anything other than recover from hate reset. I just don't like it.
Maximize cure 3 swap > cure 4 swap w/o either gjallarhorn or some form of favor / evoker's roll to supplement mp regen. (assuming double march or march / ballad)
DRK/NIN, not NIN/DRK.
And people have just come to understand that PLD's surviability really isn't anything special. DRK simply has more to offer against anything that can't be 100% DD-tanked(flying wyrms, things with regular hate-resets, etc).
Personally, I see PLD as a tank/DD hybrid(DRK, WAR, SAM obviously being better DD, and RDM being a better tank), and subsequently outdated.
Please pardon the stupidity/laziness, but what's the gear like for a DRK tank? Is it stupidly expensive/hard to get shit, or is it basic stuff like enmity and haste (ie, Homam and the like, probably with Ares body in there)? Kinda curious if I could try to pull this off (which would mean I would not, strictly, be melee onry any more.)
I'm still wondering why lamia kaman(+1) is still as popular as it is. For much less you can buy a Goblin Cracker + Bib seashell + Aumoneire(+1) and gear swap them without losing tp.
On the cure cheat subject... if you were really trying to get the most out of it you would have a different cure cheat that considers your current mp. Thats if your finishing your cure in full enmity gear.
Edit: Does rdm really do that well on DI? I don't see how a decked rdm could compare to a decked pld/nin on DI if there doing it right.
Please don't derail this thread.
Also, how would people rate the Iron Ram Hauberk set? My campaign rank is pitiful, but if those pieces are any good maybe I'll start doing that.

Homam/Ares's/Valhalla/Darksteel +1/Terra's Staff
All pieces can be used. How much use you get out of them depends on the rest of your gear. If you don't have really top tier gear then you'll find mileage out of all 5 pieces.
For the most part wouldn't DRK tanking gear be pretty much identical to PLD tanking gear minus the shield+ pieces?
