The two stores that I bounce back and forth have finished with there pre-orders as well. I do find it funny that it seems like Sony is taking the Nintendo approach to making high demand for there systems by just not making any/holding back.

No Sony isn't doing what Nintendo is doing. The rate is the same.

Newegg is getting another shipment of 120gigs in today its showing, just a heads up since it seems alot of people want them, better be fast though, the 250 gigs arent going to be in untill the 17th if you want an idea of the supply/demand.

Save games? Usually a few hundred kb. Biggest I've seen is probably Fallout 3 which mine is at around 12mb.

Game data (installs etc) on the other hand can go up to around 6gb. I don't think I've seen higher than that.

Save games as Shojin said are pretty small, generally only a few mb. As for PSN games, from what I have seem, 300-500 MB is the norm. There are some cases where they are under 100 MB, but then there are the ones where they are gigs... but for the most part, 300-500 is a good assumed average.

They say it comes with the manufacturer warranty.. but will that manufacturer warranty be good if you weren't the one that bought it? Call them and ask. Seems like it'd be kind of hard to get the manufacturer warranty like that.. Example: Your friend Scott bought a PS3, and sells it to you, do you get manufacturer warranty? You only get the manufacturer warranty if you get Scott's receipt.. But will that company give you their receipt or will they give you a separate invoice/receipt? Will that invoice/receipt be good enough to claim the warranty? I don't think it would.

Since it's a device you'll need to register and use online (for a lot of games)...I don't think you'll get very much use out of it.

The 60 gig is the holy grail of PS3. The thing is that they use a single laser for everything, and thus tend to fail a bit more than the newer ones.
