I still don't get the fascination with Vick. Guy is mediocre at best. How many seasons has he completed at least 54% of his passes? 2-3? thats pretty bad for a starting QB.

at this point in his career he's a poor mans Kordell stewart.

There shouldn't be a fascination with Vick anymore. Scrambling was his M.O. but he lost a step and can't do it as well as he used to.

Vick has never been about the passing numbers, although he did have a long streak of passes without a pick (almost 200 passes iirc) in 2001-2002. The bottom line was he did lead us to the playoffs and a 27-7 win at GB, the Packers first ever loss at Lambeau. After that he broke his leg in the preseason, we foolishly fired Dan Reeves, then hired the great Jim Mora Jr. - it continued downward from there, and I remember kind of giving up on him at one point thinking we couldn't win without a pocket QB. We traded Schaub which I felt was a good move since it was basically an all-in move on Vick, but the dogfighting charges kind of ruined that.

    /reminisce

It's possible he could become a serviceable QB somewhere but you can't really teach accuracy as far as I know.

Its true passing has never been his MO BUT 53.7% career completion is godawful for someone who has to pass when they stack 8 in the box against Vick and potentially Stewart/williams.

Trust me I'm not defending his passing numbers. Just saying in his prime he was able to lead us to the playoffs with an impressive road win despite them. However it eventually became apparent how hard it is win with a bad passer of a QB - the offense has no rhythm making it harder to sustain drives and you rely on broken plays leading to big gains.

As for him on the Panthers, no, I don't see it working either.

Vick was never well known for his passing. He can throw the ball but it's just the fact that if you tried to rush Vick, it's not like alot of QB's nowadays who'll try and make room to get the ball out. He sees you coming, he'll generally say fuck it and run that ball as good as a RB and, as that clip highlighted, get decent yardage and occasionally a TD.

He didn't do too bad in the Playoffs(although kinda lol'd that his first play in their last '09 season game was a TD, and 2nd was an INT iirc). He can still fill a #2 QB role easy, #1 on a team that needs a step up from a shitty one. He's not that old so he still can go for a few more years.

Surprised this slipped to the second page with it being the day before free agency and all. I'm definitely putting my money on the Chargers drafting Cody in the first now though - they just released Jamal Williams earlier today, along with the last RB they had on contract.

Interested to see what Redskins fans think about the cuts they made too. It looks like they basically cleaned house at RB except Portis. That's like the exact opposite of what I was expecting personally

The Giants better get a RB. Also the Jets are pretty dumb releasing so many people including Thomas Jones this season, considering the restrictions they have on them for being in the final 8. Not even sure what they're planning aside from getting another CB

I agree with that, hell maybe the giants could get jones rofl. I can understand not wanting to pay the 5m bonus to an aging back though. Bradshaw is good but they really need another back, he's just not ready to take that role, especially how much he was hurt last season. Playing hard isn't enough.

Giants getting Jones would make me pretty wet tbh, if he doesn't get injured he'll tear shit up next season.

Jones and Bradshaw would be a good combo for NYG but for better or worse they aren't done with Jacobs.

Aside from his cardinal years. Jones has been one of the most durable backs in the last 10 years he'll be fine.

The guy has a killer workout regiment.

The damn problem with Jacobs is he can't be a primary back without another good back who can share 50% of the duty. He needs more rest and less carries really. He runs so hard he hurts himself. He was awesome when they had ward because ward could handle being a primary back. I think with another primary back, they'll have a great combo. Bradshaw in the 4th was always murder on a tired defense. He's so quick.

Jones was done last year, and had the privilege of being carried by the best o-line in football for a whole extra season. If he wanted to stay he shouldve taken the cut to the gaudy bonus he was due this year.

He's certainly still serviceable, but its time for the spark plug to get his shot. Kinda wishing his post season wasn't so boss now, or he wouldve been a killer fantasy surprise for me.
