Hasn't anyone thought that maybe it's not so much a McNabb issue as much as it's a Reid issue? Maybe his system just hasn't worked for their personnel? I mean.. sure the players play, and coaches coach, but he's not exactly a great clock manager when it comes to in game coaching.

Not to mention abandoning the run after 5 plays.

Someone active has to play, this has happened a few times during games. I remember both Peter Warrick and Anquan Boldin playing QB on separate occasions but the first and second team QB got injured.

Hence what I was saying about Garcia. Garcia was much more suited to the system than McNabb and he took them to the divisional round (in which the defense shit the bed).

Andy Reid will make a fantastic GM some day because he's got some great talent eval skills.

They've got 10+ picks in this years draft, with 5 of them in the top 90 spots. The team will either make some moves for players or to move up in the draft

Post I left on Chris Cooley's blog where his brother asked what they thought about McNabb coming over:

A shame Campbell's getting treated like this. I wonder if he would have gotten continuity at the coaching staff and o-line, could he have been better? I think he had the tools to, but eh. What can I say? The NFL's a business. I hope he gets a shot elsewhere with a team that actually knows how to manage players instead of "Let's spend money and bring in the highest paid guys."

As far as McNabb, he's going back in time. Now he's on a team that lacks real offensive weapons, much like the Eagles Pre-Owens. Sorry, Cooley.. but I doubt he's excited to have over the hill LJ, Portis, and "Fast Willie" in the backfield. Maybe they'll stay healthier combined than Westbrook did, so that's a plus. Let's not mention the lack of WR core.

    Anyway, good luck with McNabb!

Exactly. The Redskins will not contend for a title with those RBs, that porous OL and overpaid underachieving defensive players.

And honestly do ppl think McNabb will sign an extension with them? No way, he's looking to go to a contender in the 2011 season, like AZ or MINN

I think the perfect scenario is Favre comes back and retires next year, McNabb goes to Minnesota.

    Underachieving defense?

That's laughable. It was the defense that kept the Redskins' games close last year. If you look at their schedule last year, there was only one blowout (to NYG near the end of the year), they lost by: 6 points, 5 points, 3 points, 8 points, 10 points, 14 points, 1 point, 3 points, 3 points, 33 points (NYG), 17 points, 3 points.

I'll give you the 10, 14, 17 and 33-point losses out of 12 losses as "not close" but that leaves 8 games that were relatively close. The defense was:

    10th in total defense (YPG)
    8th in passing defense (YPG)
    16th in rushing defense (YPG)

The problem was the OL and the offense's lack of production, lack of scoring. Compared to the defense, the offense was:

    22nd in total offense (YPG)
    16th in passing offense (YPG)
    27th in rushing offense (YPG)

You can't win games if you can't play defense AND run the ball effectively to open up your passing game. The Skins' defense played relatively well, the offense sucked a fat one. They averaged 16.6 points per game (26th in the NFL).

If you don't think the Redskins will be contending within two years, you have another thing coming. Maybe I'm a Skins homer, I'll cop to that but I have faith in Shanahan & Bruce Allen.

Yeah, a few years from now. What you did was rent McNabb for a season. He won't sign an extension with the Skins.

You guys also ranked 18th in points allowed. Either way, the team is full of overpaid under achievers. Your defense regressed compared to the year before w/o those FA signings.

Personally I don't see the Birds being contenders this year, either, but it'll set up great for 2011 the year after the lockout.

I'm not a McNabb hater, but I understand why they did this trade and I hope that it works out for Philly. As long as we sweep the Skins next year I'll be happy, but I'm not expecting more than a 9-7 season and maybe 3rd place at best in the NFC East due to a porous O-Line, musical chairs on defense that needs addressing, and a miserable secondary. I like that we have a lot of draft picks, so at least there's hope for the future. Still, not expecting anything above mediocrity for 2010.

I think the Eagles are an 8-9 win team tops.

Ive been gone all day, easter with my nephew and what not. I cant say I dont care about the trade, because I still get to see MCFat miss wide open receivers for two games this year, but, as others have said he'd be dumb to resign with the skins if he wants a ring.

Doesn't the AFC S and NFC E play this year? I don't see them beating anyone in that div.

Our schedule isn't really helping us, either. We've got the NFC North & AFC South, plus the NFC East twice & possible playoff picks in SF & ATL. At least we play the Lions.
