Then explain why they traded him? Cause his 2009 season performance is actually slightly better than his 2008. His skills aren't the reason they traded him, considering he was THE FREAKING SUPER BOWL MVP. He supposedly wanted a pay increase but considering he helped win them a Super Bowl and they are apparently ok with players doing shit they shouldn't in public he had 1 due. Trading someone of his caliber, even if he is facing a 4 game suspension, for a 5th round pick of all things is just to send a message.

I wasn't disagreeing with you regarding Holmes. But the whole "message" thing you're referring to means nothing when Ben is still on their roster. If they were THAT serious about not keeping guys with character issues, Ben would have been gone months if not years ago.

The reason Pitt traded him is because he is going to be suspended for the first 4 Games of this season. This was also the last year of his contract, and I would assume Pittsburgh didn't want to pay him.




Edit: 4 game suspension is for violating the leagues substance abuse policy.
