I actually though (and still think) that the ZNM System was a good idea when you look at it as a whole. However, major flaws such as the Plate gathering, the repetition of fighting Tier 1-3 monsters to get to the Kings and that basically 80% of the treasure from ZNM's is just not that great make it just another system we have. That is not to say there aren't any good things about the system either.
Ahh kk, guess that can work to however it depends on location/mob and can take about 10x longer is the only issue.
The main problem with the plates is due to them using the Pankration system, IMO. Plates were made to not stack because of how they're used in that.
I mean, I don't care about sleeping a mob and snapping pictures as a timesink, or even that much about needing to get Jettons to buy the camera/plates.
It's the inventory issues that get me, which are only exacerbated by the throttle on turning them in. If the plates stacked + allowing different pacing for trade-in, then it would be far less annoying, with the same basic end result.
Also, the rising prices with popularity/server reset/etc is just completely unnecessary.
omg I have so much to say about ZNM.
Huge potential of money making in ZNM if you include ra/ex drops too. There is an actual demand for ZNM gears and weapons.
Many T1 and T2 can be soloed/duoed/trioed.
Back when I was running a salvage LS, I had great difficulty trying to convince ppl to do ZNM, despite the fact that we were making decent money from selling drops to fund salvage upgrade. After several Tinnin and Sarameya runs I decided to call it a day and quit the game.
Conclusions:
1) Farming zeni is too much a chore for most ppl and they rather spend 3 hours AFKing in DA or turn up in Sky just to kill some random NMs.
2) Ra/ex drop rate is too high, those who are too lazy to farm zeni lose interest in ZNM after getting what they want
Wake up to this garbage. What does ZNMs have to do with a D ring dropping?
Just because they added a system that I can deal with that is nice doesn't mean they added a fucking thing worth while or time invested maybe if you socialy played this system you could what end up with some of the gear you want by time the server shuts down? with a 8-5 job with kids and a wife?
If you don't have that and just sit your ass and play games all fucking day then who would spend that time wasted on a stupid system designed to waste time and give generally worthless rewards?
This zomg they added other things didn't fix what was broken. It's like a fucking guy pretending to throw the ball to the dog who is fooled to go look at where it was tossed but the guy had the ball the whole time. Then the dog comes back like what was that bullshit? Sept some dogs are to stupid to figure out they were played to be a fool.
ZNM's not a system I loathe by any means - but it's incredibly inventory intensive, does suck balls if you don't have a job that can sleep (or that doesn't require swapping ammo/ranged to sleep), and the mob patterns can really fucking blow ass at times when it seems like he's got a boner for soulflayers for about a month. The 10 plates a day turn-in limit drags things out as well.. I don't mind going out to get say 30-40 pictures, but having to sit there for hours with total inventory paralysis, giving them to the old fart in his 10 a day dose is bloody annoying.
That and the sod's law when the mob changes as you go out to farm pics with no warning is irritating.
On the other hand - the guy who changed the ??? repops for the system from the sodding 15 minute let's drag pop NMs out for hours while everyone goes afk for a wank between respawns of the ??? fest to at least being able to bang them out quickly does deserve an award.
Mob pattern is not a major issue. Can always take picture of limbus Euvi if you don't want to go through the trouble of finding the correct mobs. Considering the ZNM drop rate, I think the turn-in limit is necessary.
ZNM actually reveals some interesting aspects of endgame LS. Most players only turn up for event if they know they get the chance to share the drop, or at least when they are under the delusion they could.
Why did I have a feeling that a Ridill debate was coming?
I'd agree that some form of throttling is appropriate, but they could manage it differently to alleviate the problem. As it is, you can technically turn in 240 plates per RL day. It's impractical, but it's possible.
I'd take a system with half, or even a quarter of that limit if I could turn them in as fast as I could get them.
'cause yeah, it's no big deal to go to Sea and shoot 2-3 stacks of plates to fill up inventory. It's the waiting to offload them that's annoying.
