I remember when I was 12 and I had a big (by the standard of the times) collection of photos of naked chicks on my parents' computer. I stashed the folder in a subfolder for the video game Realmz.

One day my dad got mad at me for something and deleted all my video games off the computer. It look like 20 minutes for the delete to finish, because of all the porn.

I WOULD say that the teaching of abstinence only sex education in schools would lead to both a significantly higher number of kids being "encouraged" to experiment sexually on their own, leading both to far greater teen pregnancy rates, and the prevalence of porn overwhelming more normal sexual behavior/experimentation.

When a kid assumes the girls at school won't be open to do anything because sex is bad, then discovers the vast collection of porn constantly available online, it isn't hard to see replacing the urge to date and try to get laid with the urge to go get another instant dose of easy orgasmic chemical release.


We're all addicted to orgasms, anyone who says they aren't has a chemical imbalance, or is lying, or one of those freakishly rare totally pure creatures who has never so much as gotten off once, alone or with someone else.

I had a very heated discussion with someone about how abstinence only education doesn't work, and I think that I was about to the point of violence. They honestly believed that condoms and other forms of birth control should not be available to people under the age of 21. I couldn't believe it, but when I asked them to further explain their beliefs, they said that people that young could not be trusted with a decision as important as who to sleep with, and allowing them to have birth control would only encourage them to have sex.

Words failed me. One of the very few times I was honestly speechless. Upon marshaling my nerves, I asked "Well, what if they're going to have sex anyways? Young people, hell anyone really, can fall victim to passion and find someone who they want to have sex with, and if they aren't educated in how to have protected sex, doesn't that just invite teen pregnancy and other issues?" And he just said to me "People should just wait. If they can't wait, then they invite the risks."

Then I just said fuck it and stopped talking to them about it. It was at work, and sadly, I couldn't just leave. How can being educated on a matter be worse than being uneducated? How does that even work in someone's brain?
