Have you tried breaking its headfins then capturing it?

I believe so. I always aim for the heads and they always look damaged. They don't completely go away, but they look the same as they did when I completed the sub quest where you need to break them.

Yeah, try capturing then, it always helped me with rarer rewards. To capture, you beat the monster till it limps, make it walk over a shock or pitfall trap, and then throw 2-3 tranquilizer bombs

I fought that mob before coming to school this morning and I remember getting a frill when I had to capture it. Maybe that's what you need to do.

Capture or kill works, it doesn't matter.

I'm not sure why you're trying so hard for it though, you upgrade out of it in like an hour...

Just buy some starter armor for your chest for now, and move on. In MH if you get too caught up perfecting yourself early on, you get very little benefit and end up burning out.

I'll skip the frill I guess, but it is just funny how I couldn't seem to get it.

Anyway, I suppose online quests are much harder to solo?

If you have a usb kb lying around, you can use that. Otherwise just play like you know wtf you're doing and ignore anyone who says otherwise.

I heard that in order to break Great Jaggi and get the frill you have to hit his neck rather than his head. Not sure personally since I fight him with a hammer so hitting his head also hits his neck anyway.

Capturing him raises the drop rate for the frill also. I know you get two automatically as quest rewards, one from the hunt quest and one from the capture quest.

I really dislike how you can't "aim" the Great Sword anymore. The combo especially with the stun gives me some versatility but not being able to slightly adjust my charge hit is lame.

Requires multiple people and too tiresome to get a random group of people together.

That or level HR or whatever it is called. But low level

Online seems like a waste of time unless you are very well equipped or have a party. Trying to make a party from within the game is an even bigger waste of time. Wish I didn't need to endure a 50 min fight to learn this.

Very true. There needs to be password cities so we can make friends join in than going to a barren server to make a game for random people to just jump in.

I've had "Solo Play" up a lot and people would join in anyway:

I was able to get one or two good groups. So the night turned out to be somewhat enjoyable. I am probably better off beating the single player first... everyone has better equipment than I do.

If it does matter to you BRP then yes, offline is indeed faster if you don't have a set group to tear through the quests you need for your items online. I personally would also much rather have SOME idea of what a boss is about offline instead of jumping into it blind online.

Most of the items I have gathered have been offline, then I jump online when I want to grab some HR points.

I don't get this either... had this happen to us a few times last night. One of the times it was obvious that the person just wanted us to start that quest instead of the one we already activated. When we didn't cancel ours, he left.

I have been lucky so far finding competent groups more often than not, but then I am not looking for 'pro only or gtfo'. As long as the people are not lacking all common sense, and we get a win I am good.

I'm going to get on now if someone wants to hr grind. Still HR14 and I only found idiot groups last night that failed because of them not dodging and ragequiting than redoing it.

I don't think you can get King's Frill from capture.

If you do the 2 star kill quest and complete subquest A (just aim for his head, use the provided flash bomb to stun him makes it pretty easy) - never had a problem doing it before killing him. The reward for Subquest A is like ~60/40 King's Frill/Screamer in my experience.
