Getting up into quest level 2, some goofy boat visited etc. Got some new armor choices and this Loc Lac shawl looks neat. Going to make the Alloy mail I suppose, too, until I gain access to all this nifty shit you guys are talkin about lol.

Need an altaroth stomach. Couldn't you get that from some random quest early on? Or online mode maybe? Just need 1 of them, I could have sworn I had one or sold one at one point.

Also, Gluehopper beetle for the alloy mail. MH Wiki says only in the desert lands?

Altaroth stomachs come from the large Altaroths, or small Altaroths with a white bulb. Just use the Bug Hunt or whatever its called quest and go to Area 7. (I think its 7, the place in between the Jaggi nest and the Wyvern nest) You'll find some big Altaroths and the small ones will go to the mushroom spawn and eat it to get white bulbs.

Loc Lac gear is top tier for egg/stone runs. Made myself a set, and added a Heat Res +9 charm I found to absolutely destroy the powderstone quest. Might farm that quest or the wyvern egg one some to get more charms.

Yep, made the Loc Lac myself for the Powderstone quest. It rules. I use it for the Wyvern Egg quest as well... and yes, thanks for reminding me. I need to farm some good Talismans myself.

A good quest (for anyone looking for bug parts, for the Bnahabra set or w/e) is Pest Control (3 Star Offline). Just make a quick Light Bowgun, actually just buy the pieces from the NPC. Buy 12 Poison Shots, toss on some armor if you want, or dont... and just use 1st person mode to shoot down your Flyers. Poison one shots em and you can carve them. Also make sure you grab the 2 Poison Bombs from the box too, and head to area 8 where you will find Ants (Altaroth) there should be a group of three there.

Toss a Poison Bomb at them, but make sure they haven't eaten anything (you will be able to tell they haven't if their ... uh... sac is not full...) and then just wait for the poison to kill them. That is how I got my stomachs and jaws for the Bnahabra, as well as the parts from the actual flyers.

You have a ways to go to get Longswords unlocked. Even if you could see them in the blacksmith, the first (and rather crappy) one requires Baggi hides, which means you need 2* missions unlocked at the very least.

There are gather quests once you get higher rank missions. Essentially you're dumped into the area for 50 minutes and can gather whatever you want until you deliver a ticket that shows up in the blue box after a little while.

Just got this game last week. Not too far into it yet though. I just finished the quest where I had to capture the Great Jaggi.

Is there any advantage to having complete sets of armor? Or do you guys mix and match them?

The game is pretty fun. The controls suck in town though it always seems like if I am trying to face a certain npc and I have to move my character just a little my character lurches every time I touch the stick.

You can to collect enough skill points to access skills. This comes in sets of 10s. Going a little under or a little over is a waste of space. (There is also elemental resists and defense. Not sure if Elemental resists are very important though)

Go for complete armor sets.

Each armor piece comes with a certain amount of skill points. When you get at least +10 of those points you get a skill. Usually, armor sets are supposed to give you enough points to get skills.

You can mix and match, but thats for later

Ah that makes sense. I didn't know about that part. I guess I will finish the Jaggi armor then. Right now I have mostly Jaggi armor and one piece of Ludroth armor (feet).

I am really digging the pole arm but I definitely want to try out long sword once I get it unlocked.

Hehe yeah I have seen that I think? I was doing Rathian with few people last night and the Lancer was basically parked in her face the whole time. Every time she would start to roar (or fireball) it ended up being not so much a "Roar!" as a "Erp!" with a lance in her face... If it wasn't a counter it was a damn lot of perfectly timed interrupts.
