Well, for people like me that have never played a monster hunter title, I'm definitely hooked. Mission accomplished Nintendo.. or Capcom.. Or both. Whatever.

A few random Rathalos parts and I'll have my last two Rathalos armor pieces. I still need to find a really decent talisman piece, though.

Dude, these activities are one and the same. Criticism is pointless without comparison and there is no reason in the world why you wouldn't compare Monster Hunter to Monster Hunter.

Yeah I'm HR19.

Easiest way to get Thunderbugs is when the City gets a sale but it seems like it doesn't happen often. The other two ways to get them are from the captain offline and to pretty much bring a bug net with you everywhere and capture bugs in every quest you go on.

We had been more talking about the this game by itself, what part of the game you were on. Strategies for certain monsters, how the affinities work, weaknesses and other shit about actually playing the game. I was saying that we should get back to that kind of stuff rather than the completely worthless "I like this Monster hunter better than this Monster Hunter"

Except that type of talk isn't "worthless". I find a lot of worth in it. You might not because you probably want tips or something. There isn't a division of Monster Hunter strategies and Monster Hunter criticisms, it is just one thread with both. I hope people will continue and perhaps go more in-depth, because rarely does anyone do that. (And again, we are still talking about "the game itself".)

Fair enough. It really wasn't that big of a complain more of a cursory statement anyway.
Though I can see how comparing it to the other games would be interesting to some.

I personally don't have much experience with the Monster Hunter series the last time I played a monster hunter game I was beta testing Monster Hunter on the ps2.

I do find sometimes resource gathering rather tedious for certain stuff but I haven't gotten high enough to where I need to farm the same monster over and over for too long. The longest I have fought the same monster was quropeco to finish that armor set and that only took me about 5 kills to get everything I needed.

Question: Does anyone think they will be expanding this game ever via DLC or updates to add new areas and monsters or add armor and weapons? I see a lot of potential for this game to be expandable but I am not sure if that is something they ever do with this series.

Also I looked it up and I basically confirmed that you need to go through the repeat-bosses to fight the really good ones at the end. Disappointing, but I think the only "online-only" boss you fight at 30. Can you fight the rest off-line?

Honestly B, the best way to get thunderbugs is to just send the Argosy out to the farm area I think, maybe bypass the others (I'm 99% sure its the farm area). Go out and do some free hunts to earn commodities and just trade for them. I got about 12 of them last night just because they're annoying to go out and find.

Do they ever appear in the online trader? Thats were I got all my spiderwebs. Saved me a fuckload of time. Now I use pitfall traps whenever I feel like it.

I can't really go in-depth because I don't own a Wii... only got to play Tri for like 30min at a friend's place.
Can't really do much of a comparison but the game honestly did not feel 'dumbed down'. Like people have been saying it has, at least not in the way that it handles.

If they've made the monsters easier, that's something I wouldn't know about.

Last time Thunderbugs showed up online was during the Jhen Moran event, might be a bit.

That I don't know, actually. That menu changes every x amount of time that I don't know, either. I think its every 24 hours? Next time I see spider webs I'm going to buy as many as I can too, farming them is nearly as annoying as the thunderbugs.

I'll watch it for a few days and see if they get thunderbugs in.

Not sure if they do or not, but I am leaning towards no. FYI Kadaj, you will need Monster Fluids to trade for Spiderwebs. 1 Fluid = 5 Webs. At least that is the only option i have seen so far. So just wanted to let you know in case you didn't realize that was the trade. I just do the Pest Control quest offline and have plenty of Fluids for that.

Also Kadaj, there is something that just feels awesome about a Portable MH game. MH2G was a helluva time sink for me. The more recent addition of adhocParty(US) makes that even better. I am very excited about both MHP3 and MH Frontier on 360. If they don't eff up Frontier it could be MH3 x 1000. If you haven't ever checked out Frontier... you really should.

Anyway, I would just be excited to get to play with you all be back to using my favorite weapon, Bows. I miss them so badly. Also Hunting Horns are fun as hell. Those 2 weapon links are worth seeing if you have never seen either weapon in action before.

Yeah the monster fluid for webs I knew, but I haven't seen them up on the trade since the first time I got them. That time I only got like 5 or 10 of the. Really regretting it now lol.

I'll have to look into Frontier then. If its 1000x better than this I'll definitely be into it. These games' setups see to really be something I've been looking for in an action/RPG type deal for a long time. Hard to find gems like this. Even if it has its flaws, I've logged 86 hours on it already mostly in offline mode. So addictive.

That is the thing too, it makes no effort to conceal the fact that it it just one big grind. You grind bosses (you will never get enough items from one Boss encounter to make the whole set/weapon), you grind materials, you grind Rank Points... and somehow it is fun?

I could completely understand when I would try to get friends to play the first couple PSP versions and they would try it and look at me like I was insane a few days later. On the other hand a few friends were instantly hooked... one surprisingly so because he almost threw his PSP against the wall after his 3rd Tigrex...

Frontier is dated, so it will remain to be seen if they can improve the graphics of a game that came out almost 3 years ago now enough to draw in players. I have to say though, Monster Hunter Tri's graphics aren't blowing me away but I could really not care less.

Really though, it is all pointless to hope for until a Western release is announced -.-
