It may also not work when its raged(?) that's our theory anyway. None of the things like Sonic Bombs and Flash Bombs seem to work for us when a monster is going berserk. Could just be coincidence though.

Rumble in the great desert is up right now, sandstorm. How much more difficult is the higher level repel than the festival of fear? Is it doable with 3 people? And how long will it stay on the board?

Flying rocks will hurt a lot more. Killing with 4 people smoothly averaged out to 5 minutes left on clock, so that means there's way less time to fuck around. I doubt 3 people will be able to kill, there were a number of times where someone d/ced towards the end, and we would end up getting a repel.

If you can get a group to reliably farm it, the armor+ looks like a decent set to have. Though honestly I just want enough mat+s to upgrade the jhen switchaxe.

Anyone have insight on damage on high rank Jhen? Trying to figure out what the best ways to fight him are. Tooling around Gamefaqs a bit gave me some numbers:

    Ballista: 30 (2x)
    Cannon: 120
    Dragonator: 255 (4x)
    Anti-Dragon Bomb: 400 (Anywhere)

Now things I haven't been able to confirm: Do the Ballista and Cannons do static damage everywhere, or does damage change based on where it lands? Does the Dragonator have to be triggered at just the right time for full damage, or does a hit that's a little early still deliver the same?

I had 3-4 groups last night that had no problem killing with around 5 minutes left, but I'm thinking they had some top of the line weapons on them. General consensus I've been seeing is Cannon > Ballista > Attacking, but the last 5 groups I've been in have been spamming cannon full time and all we're getting are repels. I'm not sure if people are seeing whats above there and not considering the time involved in using each weapon and just saying "120 > 60 hurr cannon" or if it really is the better option. Is going after the feet in the last stage the way to go, or not until you've got those top tier weapons?

Here's a lol: Yahtzee thinks the Moga Woods is the main game(the "overworld" of the whole game) which is focused on upgrading the village via killing small monsters and quests are side-activities. He didn't seem fight Great Jaggi because he never mentioned it(but did explain every quest before it).

(EDIT: So no mention of Chacha, any monsters outside running away from Lagicrus once, not even the difficulty because at that point there is none(no potion, weapon, inventory difficulties, nothing!). Apparently monsters don't fight each other - but how could he know, he didn't reach a point where two monsters were in the same area. As usual he didn't try online. So it is a critique of Moga Woods without monsters to hunt. I guess he didn't do a too poor of a job on that, lol)

    EDIT: http://www.escapistmagazine.com/foru...ter-Hunter-Tri

lol biggest shit heap on the internet(the entire forum I mean). I wonder if these fine, fine fellows understand that Yahtzee would probably vomit in his silly little hat if he actually read any of this.

It wouldn't matter at all... except that there's people stupid enough to hear him negatively review a game (wut? nevar!) and decide not to buy it.

And that's not exactly his fault.

I can't wait to hear what he says about RDR, regardless of the fact that I know he's going to bash it and I love the shit out of it.

The messageboard I linked is basically full of people doing exactly that.

They did the same damage regardless of where you hit with it in MHFU, I don't think there's any way to see monster health in Tri is there? Would take some crazy extensive testing to find out if they changed it unless there is, but probably safe to assume it just works the same. Ballista are good for breaking specific parts though.

Haven't actually played Tri, but I can tell you that Cannon was basically worthless in MHFU. And later in the game, weapons basically out-damage all of the weapon placement options, not always in raw number alone, but the fact it takes no time to whack the fuck out of things with your weapon. Do you still have to lug a cannonball to the cannon then fire it and repeat? If so, chances are it sucks once again. Being able to carry 10 ballista shots and fire them all in the same time it takes to fire one cannon was a pretty massive difference in damage.

Yeah I watched his review yesterday and had to laugh at the fact that he probably only played the game for maybe 30 minutes and never made it out of Moga woods. While listening to it I was just thinking hmm monster hunter actually does have everything he wants it to. Epic battles randomly spawning monsters that interfere with you, monsters fighting each other. I went out to Moga woods to do simple resource gathering (I needed 1 stupid spider web) and Great Jaggi showed up, no big deal so I decide to kill it, halfway through Rathian flies down and starts shooting fireballs at me so now I am fighting both. I end up taking down Rathian and after that I can't find Great Jaggi anymore. But that moment was exactly what he said wasn't in the game.

He really is only for entertainment value and has no merit when it comes to really reviewing or understanding games in my opinion.

The cannon spot is 3 inches away from the cannonblaster thingy though on the boat, it's really sweet.

Edit: Also, how the fuck do I get flame sacs. Is there an easy way to get one? Argh I just need one more and I caught/killed a million of the dragon twins.

I've seen some pretty exact HP tables and weakness charts floating around; since everything runs client side my guess is someone hacked it at some point and got all the stats down. The lack of a G rank equivalent gives you lower damage weapons to work with overall, so the boarder line for effectiveness between the static damage from ballistics and straight melee is a little blurry =/

Flame sacs have a lowish drop rate (8%) from body carves on the Rath lovers

Doesn't seem to show up in quest rewards (maybe capture? not listed) so just smash them into bits and pray.

Yeah I saw the low carve rate, but I can't find any capture rates around for these monsters. Or what the break % is, since apparently you get it from face smashing.

Man been spending my whole weekend trying to do 3 star Jhen urgent. Helped about two handfuls of people get their's done. First time my turn comes around, I d/c in the last 5 mins.

Second time, I make my own room, 2 people join. First dude is trying to rush me to start the quest and looking at his gear, there's no damn way the two of us is getting that shit done so I just ignore him after awhile. Another guy joins in and I start the quest. First dude conveniently goes afk as soon as the mission starts and after about 10 mins, told the other guy I'm not busting my ass to do this just to have some dude try to leech rewards off of us and dropped right then and there.

Third time I try to get it done, the people I was with die twice and when we were close to beating it, someone dies a third time failing the mission. Then the dude who joined our room last, didn't even apologize or anything, has the nerve to post his mission ahead of the other guy that I was going to help. So I just restocked and logged off.

I swear it's like FFXI genkai bullshit all over again.

Would love to help you but as of about a week ago, when we lost power in the neighborhood for about 3 minutes... i cannot stay connected for shit to MH3. I really don't get it. I have tried everything, and when i do get in I get booted after a few quests. It really is very annoying. Probably going to buy the USB dongle soon and see how that does. Tried DMZ, new IPs, etc... nothing. It was working GREAT for a month.
