Metroid: Other M

I tend to give RPGs longer to get going, but an action game should grab you pretty quickly. All the action games I've enjoyed I knew within the first 30 minutes whether I would continue playing or not.

Personally, I don't trust Team Ninja to make good action games, but I hate Ninja Gaiden, so I'm biased. I'll give this a try though, but only because I love Metroid...

For opening scenes, Jesus Shitcrist, that is some bad writing.

Also, I don't quite see the purpose of most of the normal monsters I have seen if shooting them takes no effort other than hitting A as fast as you can while kinda' sorta' maybe facing in their general direction.

Another game that would have benefit from a simply 2-D revamp. I'm praying, after the next (admittedly impressive) installment of Castlevania, that they go back to Symphony of the Night-esque gorgeous sprites and 1 less D.

I'm as big a Metroid fan as the next guy but the trailer honestly doesn't look that bad. My biggest concern so far seems to be the control scheme. Hopefully they'll implement a customizable option. I'm also really annoyed what they're trying to do with the story. Metroid was always about the environment and atmosphere telling the story for you. That cut-scene was atrocious, I better be able to skip them.

I really can't stand Team Ninja, I think all their games amount to utter garbage where you spam one button, maybe a jump here and there, until you reach the end credits. Only nostalgia-fags would like that. I'm going to go out on a limb though and give them the benefit of the doubt with this one being that its Metroid. I doubt Nintendo wouldn't have had some kind of oversight in the development.

Seems a bit odd, however I think the reason they cut explaining Prime was since they wanted to focus more on the metroid species, which didn't have a huge role in the Prime series. Since that seemed to focus more on Dark Samus/Space Pirates than it did Metroids.

Other M takes place before Prime.

No, Prime happens between Metroid/Metroid II since metroids aren't extinct yet.

Does Kmart still sell metroid trilogy? I haven't had any luck finding them in any stores and amazon wants $50+ for it.

That pretty much became a collectors item now. Since apparently Nintendo stopped making it.

Only version they released for the trilogy is the metal box version. According to the Metroid wiki Nintendo discontinued it. Which seems to be the case since Amazon wants 70 for a new copy and 50 for used.

Just went to Kmart and holy shit they had it along with DQ5. Another game amazon was over pricing and couldn't find in stores. Thank you Kyo lol. My GF also found Professor Layton 2 and picked that up.

pretty good so far, I just passed like at least 4-5 secrets and powerups that I'm gonna have to go back for. The score/soundtrack is pretty good, even though Samus' voice actor is kinda meh, not that I expected much of a story but it's actually quite entertaining.
