The joke is hard to see because IGN makes their logo transparent.

Ah okay that makes sense now.
Graphics is different from art style, that said its not hard to max out Galaxy's art style on the Wii which i bet was what they meant. Still a Mario game though, so its pretty much a score with respect to what the game was trying to achieve, not in comparison to say.. FFXIII on the PS3.
More fuel for the fire:

If that doesn't tell you how pointless breaking down into categories is then I don't know what will. (Also I wonder what RDR did to get .1 more presentation. Since these guys got feelings down to a science should be easy to know, right?)
Also I noticed Gametrailers doesn't think the availability of 1ups(seems just as easy as SMG1) or having to find out where to go doesn't change the difficulty.
So Mario Galaxy 2 has no story and still gets a 10. I haven't played a Mario seriously since Super Mario World/ Super Mario RPG, and it seems I still have no reason to today, especially with this heavily biased and slanted reporting.
The poor quality of reviewers is no reason to avoid a good game.
While you say that... They gave ModNation racers a 7ish for story... You know cause we play Kart Racing games for stories.
Mario Galaxy certainly does have a story. Comparatively complicated one compared to some previous marios, lol.
pretty sure the overall message these reviews give is that core Mario games rock. Not so much the 50+ spin off sport games and minigame packs with Mario in the title.
So is it in stores today, or is today just when it ships to stores? Might stop by and pick up a copy today or tomorrow, depending on when it's actually in.
It's in stores. I visited Futureshop yesterday and they had a good 100 copies in plain view under the desk of one of the employee stations. >.>
(granted they all had that "Do not sell under so-and-so date" stickers on them)
Going to start playing it tomorrow but I listened to the final bosses music today and it might be the most unbelievable orchestration work I've ever heard in a video game

No spoilers in the video itself but don't listen if you want to be surprised at the music
^
The song is amazing...need more music like this in video game.
I played quite a bit today (50 stars). The review were saying stage design was better than the first Galaxy, but I don't really feel it. Most stages consist of a bunch of unmemorable little planetoids...I don't feel the same epicness the first one had to it. Well, I'm exagerating a little, but nothing is catching my attention this time around.
It's still a fun game, and totally worth getting if you liked the first Galaxy, I just wish the stage would be a little more memorable.
Off-topic, slightly. Does anyone feel music(along with scenario description) counts as spoilers? It is hard as hell to block off my temptations to open that youtube.
Depends on how you view the word spoiler I guess. It can definitely spoil the experience a bit, but most people seem to just consider the word spoilers as things that essentially ruin a plot. Definitely better not to listen, especially with stuff like final boss music or (in this anyway) the throw-back galaxy. Hearing that track when you get there would make it infinitely more awesome.
Just for reference, who/what is Vanille point to?
She sees your penis
edit: you can also relate this to both my avatar and signature
Absolutely nothing.
Spoiler: show
So I didn't realize this until someone pointed it out today but it's currently at a 98% out of 24 scores on metacritic right now. I can't wait for this fucking game. :D
