I agree, lol. Again, the point isn't which side wins, it's that we get there with some semblance of intelligence.
Representing a single workplace environment that a certain fuckwad may experience as the standard, despite making up less than 0.0000001% of the overall workforce, and then holding the experiences of others to it isn't a good basis for decision making, discussion, or really anything other than being flagged for a lobotomy.
I work as the CIO of a major corporation, and as such, I determine what is and is not in my companies AUP. In accordance, few users catch the, "I'm the sysadmin, I'll do what I fucking please, clause."
To you? To me? To Tyche? Definitely.
To random coworker #2732354 walking by your desk? You have zero evidence, basis, or insight into how they may perceive what they are seeing.
The risk is no less prevalent given the unknowns than with straight porn. You are equally likely to have a 19 year old mail clerk walk by while looking at Ariel Rebel and hi-five you as you are to have a 45 year old southern baptist receptionist drop a file on your desk, be horribly offended by the use of semen for anything other than procreation, and immediately sprint to the HR department.
Unknown variables are unknown for a reason, you don't fucking know what will happen.
Edit: @Ksandra, I don't want to visit my parents for christmas and have to explain why I'm reading about a semen book anymore than why I'm looking at porn. Both are uncomfortable situations. I'm using a specific to prove a point since Tyche went out of his way to say that he could show his boss the book and he would laugh, thus making it universally ok!
But what isn't an unknown are the chances of one vs the other holding up in court. Sexual Harassment cases are fucking hard hard hard for the plaintiff to win. You bring up that your offended by an article of a book, it's even that much more difficult. If a female is the plantiff, the chances are nigh. If you have a picture of a girl with a cock stuffed 3/4s of the way into her, then there's not a lot of hope.
I always love the part of this argument when someone tells someone they don't know anything about how they can do better at a job they know nothing about.
Protip: Lot's of work environments are different. Some bosses don't mind you surfing the net between jobs or calls, but might mind if you've got dicks and boobs up everywhere.
I'm pretty sure you made some decent points but you pretty much through your whole post away with that sentence.
Also, on another note. Maybe some people just don't want to see it whether they're at work or not. Maybe.
ITT: thinking you'll be brought to court on a sexual harassment case, win, and still keep your job as an average human being without anything special or vital to contribute to the company.
Statistics may prove me wrong, but afaik with larger corporations sexual harassment lawsuits, however frivolous, are usually settled out of court with both parties needing to find a new place to work.
Edit: @Ksandra again, now I'm arguing semantics, but perception is the name of the game. You never know what might set somebody off.
There's a reason I don't browse BG at school or work. Shit will be there when I get home and I can't expect everyone to react to everything the same way I do.
You're bringing up what would legally constitute as sexual harassment, so I play that ball, then you switch to saying "well, then it would be settled out of court". I give up. I can't argue in circles.
If there is even a hint of a legal basis for a sexual harassment claim most companies save themselves the embarrassment and cost of representation that a trial requires, and settle out of court, usually with non-disclosure agreements attached.
How are you not following this? You can't argue in circles or you just can't argue period? Stick to football, you suck at this.
I understand this as well, but we have strived to try to make threads labeled correctly to prevent accidents from happening, and so far there seems to have been no issues, whereas this is asking for shit to happen. And for what? So people don't have to click on FoD to see some titties? Again is it really THAT serious that we need to allow it when it could cause more trouble than it's worth?
I block all avatars and sigs. You feegs can put whatever you want in there and I'll never see it. Heck, I don't even know if I have an avatar or sig right now.
