Gotta love people who spout off their opinions without really knowing anything or doing any kind of background research before opening their mouths. It may be stupid, but I don't understand how anyone can open up a thread and just post a bunch of shit without even bothering to read what's been said. How can you participate in an active discussion that way?

Two, three years ago it was the cool thing to blame spam for every bad thing that happened on the forum, and people sound like fucking tryhards when they do it now. Since people are obviously unacquainted, spam has better regulated, better enforced rules and codes of conduct than anywhere else on the forum. There's no moderation in spam. Because they don't fucking need it. Spam is 100% real talk, and the absolute first place I go if I want to know what is actually happening on the board.

The sad thing is I've been saying this for years. Every odd once in a while the collective retards have to point their fingers at Spam blame them for troubles when in reality it's their own damn faults that shit has gone downhill. And then what's the very first thing that happens when Spam comes out to meet the accusations head on? They go running to the Moderators hoping to fix their little mistake. I've lost count of the amount of times I've seen it happen.

It mostly happened whenever Spam came out to post in other sections. Certain people would try to flag them as Spam posters and cry that Spam was invading the other forums to post tits/dicks/whateverevilshitspamdoes. These people whom cried wolf usually had to be beaten with the hammer. Repeatedly.

But BR, that's the problem here. The FFXI people look at this as the general/spam/whatever posters as coming out and trying to fuck with the "normal" part of the board again.

I got a lot of respect for you and Isladar and a couple others, but at some point that doesn't over come the fact that the people that just come here for FFXI stuff don't know and don't care about the rest of the forum, and the rest of the forum doesn't care about the FFXI stuff. It may not be spam, it may be general, the point is that it doesn't make a difference to those people that know they are going to get the site banned at work sooner or later because of those people they don't care about and are not the reason they come to this forum.

It doesn't matter where this idea comes from, it's a bad idea for those that browse from work, and the fact that the option is even brought up to begin with is a very bad indication for the direction of this forum.

This is why you don't make posts without reading what the discussion is about. People were under the assumption that spam was responsible for pushing the NSFW agenda. Isla stated that is incorrect and that people will meet the hammer if they keep suggesting that it's the case. Blackrose agreed and amended said comment by adding that it's a trend for people to automatically attack spam posters simply because they inhabit the spam forums more often (i.e. they're prematurely accusing them of a "crime").

Note that none of this has to do with the debate of this issue. In fact, Isla has gone as far as to say he is siding with GTFO on this issue. Apparently, spam is also on the GTFO side. I too am on the GTFO side. I don't see any reason for your insinuated discontent with BR's response. It merely points out a fallacy in the heuristics of individuals. It does not take a stance on the issue. If you have a problem with his criticism of the aforementioned heuristic, then attack that.

Who said anything about other parts of the board coming out to fuck with everyone else? That screams paranoia. People from all over are seeing which way this can go and are voting accordingly.

That being said, BG is above and beyond FFXI by now. It has sections for 4 different games now, including FFXI. It has sections that are just as well traversed as the FFXI section. To say this is solely for FFXI is running around with blinders on. BG has transcended FFXI and become a solid community in its own right. The existence and continual usage of sections besides FFXI has proven that. So the other parts of the forum are supposed to not have a say?

EDIT: Also, I'm reduced to posting from my phone at work, if I can get on at all because of hawkish IT. I'm fucked if such a rule goes into effect.
