Ack my live feed just "expired". Weird...
Sen. Enzi talking about who the hell knows what.. dude sounds like Cheney.
Oh he's talking about bipartisanship by complaining that he's only had two bills come up in the past year. Forgive me for saying it, but if your party wasn't holding everything up from bills to cabinet nominations you might have gotten more of your pet projects heard on the Senate floor.
Also, this has what to do with health care reform?
He had a good idea though setting up a government baseline but not making it mandate but rather a comparison. Let the individual choose, if they get screwed its on them.
is it over? ;;
That doesn't work to bring down costs, because you still have millions of uninsured people walking into an emergency room and getting the most expensive care at the last possible moment, which drives up everyone's costs, which leads to stuff you see today like hospitals refusing to treat patients and leaving them on street corners in Los Angeles.
If everyone has access to health care, then no one has the excuse of waiting until the last moment.
Edit: I think I might have misinterpreted this.. what's meant by a comparison?
Good discussion now between Obama and Rep. Camp on the question of pre-existing conditions and high risk insurance pools. THIS is the kind of good discussion that should be occurring, and it doesn't surprise me that someone outside of the GOP leadership vacuum actually initiated some kind of constructive dialogue. But that's the real problem in this situation - not that the Republicans as a whole aren't willing to budge, but that their leadership isn't willing to budge.
BTW heads up I have a meeting here at 3.. anyone want to take over the play-by-play?
Maintenance?! wtf
I was listening to this!
The online stream is down for me saying maintanence.
Oh, back up, weird.
Rockefeller is a good job putting the health industry as a business in perspective.
Just because the "nuclear option" as it is dubbed is possible, it does not mean it is worth the effort and possible fallout (no pun intended) of doing so. If a better option is available that requires less risk with greater reward then they should go with it. Going nuclear is simply escalation and trying to call a bluff.
The dems can shove it through, appease a base that is not going anywhere and ostracize people in the center (who may have something to add other than votes mind you) or the dems can make the GOP answer to the reforms they stand for and be accountable to the results.
Rep. Blackburn, how do you expect your constituents to hold a multi-billion dollar for-profit insurance company accountable for ANYTHING?! IT TAKES REGULATION!
And now the competition lie again.. INTERSTATE COMPETITION IS ALREADY IN THE BILL! Did these people even DO THE JOB and READ the damn bill?!
People being denied coverage? THAT'S ALREADY BEEN HAPPENING FOR YEARS!
obama has the best "you are a fucking moron" face ever
lmfao @ "IF JAYS KID GOT HIT WITH A BUS..."
"Mr Pres'nent, you're talking about letting companies into California.. I'm talking about letting individuals out."
