Automatically choose what HDD to install programs to?

This is probably a really stupid question but for my PC i have a 40GB SSD just for my OS and a 1TB for everything else, and whenever I install programs it either automatically chooses the 40GB SSD or asks where to install it and the 40GB SSD is default.

Be careful doing this. I tried it and ran into all sorts of dumb problems. GChat, for example, automatically installs to C, without asking. Most of the Windows default programs (Media Player, Defender, Sidebar, Photo Viewer, etc) will look for the program and other files at the location you've specified in the registry, so if you don't move those files they won't work at all. It ended up being less of a headache for me to just change the C to D every time a program asked to be installed than changing the registry entry.
